It should be like Meizu Tero with no ports jack and anything else. Completely closed from any water or dust damage.

And phones with dedicated dac and amp sound better. That doesn't mean our dongle can't be better than the SOC one. Also, since the usb C also send analog signal, au USB-C headphone or a dongle will just sounds as good or better than a integrated jack. There is really nothing to loose.
But for the future, we will probably see now headphones with usb-c and quality integrated DAC from good brand that will sound better than if we have kept the jack port on the phone. A new market is created.

the quality of integrated DAC on a phone is depends on the SoC itself, unless it has discrete DAC.
I will switch to usb-c headphone/earphone if audiophile manufacturers (like wooaudio, Schiit, iFi etc) produce their hardware such external DAC only using usb-c as audio output.

Now for the real thing. your headphone jack into a phone use the same technology than a dongle, except the DAC is integrated into the phone and then, its quality is the manufacturer choice. Useless to say a lot a phone with 3.5mm jack just have low quality DAC to reduce the cost, since your average joe will not see the difference. But you can choose the quality of your dongle. So, if not as "sleek", dongle have same if not better quality than an integrated jack port. Please stop with this "jack port on phone is a better quality" non sens.

I don't understand why all manufactures fighting each other to win bezels size war? As the result we are getting motorized crap or notch and phones for which it is almost not possible to use a cases for protection! Is it really what we want? I don't see a problem to have a top bezel with camera and bottom bezel with fingerprint reader.
Other current trends are even worst: no 3,5 jack, ridiculous 19x9 or even 21,5x9 "dachshund" screen ratio, no card slot.
The last perfect to me phone was Huawei Mate 10 (non pro variant)

[deleted post]Suicide is a joke... Anyways, it's real important to have a jack which is thinner than a normal 8mm body. No modern tech can top the quality of the headphone jack. What if I want to grab the phone by something else? I can grab a phone out of my bag with my headphone cord which is still connected whilst being charged via powerbank at the same time; Plus no dongles so it's all clean and sleek.

there is type-c headphones in... morea reply from someone who clearly hasnt heard how a real headphone/earphone sounds coming out of either a balanced 2.5mm, a normal stereo 3.5mm, or a balanced 4.4mm headphone jack. Tho you need a dedicated DAP for that.
That aside, 3.5mm jack is still a selling point to some people who wants to game on the phone while charging, or simply wants audio without big latency which is important for rhythm game players. Heck, you only need to plug and it plays, no pairing, and no battery concern.

Another fake Chinese render. Bezel and chin will be much bigger on real phone. What is the IP rating? When is someone going to ditch the front camera completely or put it behind the screen? Pop up camera phones are to fat.
