Standard and XL/Plus versions is nothing new, and for that matter mini/compact versions - which typically flop. Smartphone manufacturers don't make the screens bigger for no reason at all, they do it because the majority (including me) wants it.
Take the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact of 2018, with flagship SD845 and everything. Top seller? Nope!
But hey, Google ruined Pixel 3 XL with a massive notch, so at least there the smaller version was more appealing :-)

"People in west want compact", I'm Norwegian so I guess that makes me a tiny bit more western than you :-)
SG Note sold more than SGS 9+ which sold more than normal SGS9 - which didn't sell well at all last year. Iphone plus models have been selling better than non-plus (at least at Telia, majour carrier here), Mate 20 pro more than non-pro etc.

And a very select few others like minded.... moreThe thing is, when you look at european online electronic stores' reviews for smartphones, the size is usually number 1 disadvantage for most large phones. Here in Czech Republic, the compact version of newest samsung flagship, S10e, is by far the most sold one of the series (the larger one S10 is sold less than iPhone 8 /a 4.7" phone/ and the S10+ phablet is almost not being sold at all), and guess what almost all users describe as S10e's advantage? The size.
People in west want compact phones. The reason why people opt out for larger alternatives is the price/performance ratio. A20e (another compact phone released by Samsung) costs here more than Redmi Note 7, even though it has much worse camera and performance. Samsung knows they can price it so high because they know people will want it anyway, specifically for the size.

Way more Better value than Pixel 3a. Sensible pricing this will sell well. Good spec for the price you cant go wrong well done again Huawei.

I guess you are more comfortable handling tiny/micro objects in your hands out of experience. I'm used to handling big stuff - one of which is nicknamed the Anaconda. And no, I was not the one to give it that name :-)
And this phone isn't even that big.

Very happy to see others adapt the Vivo NEX-type pop-up selfie cam. I hope Xiaomi will do it as well, as I prefer MIUI and their Mix-line in general over others.
