Huawei is only great at updates when it comes to Flagships. Medium range phones will only get security patches and newer versions of android are only released with newer versions of those phones.

Huawei's probably at the top of their game right now. The improvements to their mobile division are all across the board. Good to see them prioritizing software updates too.
I'd like to see them launch a new streamlined UI akin to the Samsung ONE UI down the road though. That would attract many new buyers.

For a non stock android, Huawei is indeed great when it comes to updates. My older Honor 8 Pro came with Nougat out of the box, got 2 major android update after that, Oreo & Pie, with April 2019 security patch. Same goes with my wife Mate 9. Best part? Smooth performance as day one even after 2 years. Excellent!
Now i know my current Mate 20 will get the same results as well.
