Probably worst platform is mobile gaming, all around garbage games with pay to win. If you are serious gamer or at least play from time to time, you will never go yo mobile gaming. I huess all these people just play some basic ones to kill time, otherwise there is no explanation why it would be playing refularly something, that is way more inferior than consoles or PC gaming

Well some of us have been "experimenting" for a long time then, I was using scummv to play the early lucas art games on my sony/Ericsson p 800--910i series phones way back in the late 1990's, and they still look better and play better than 95% of the dire crap released since then!!!!

Anonymous, 11 May 2019His idea is sound. A HTPC at home, which you can game at ho... morepower consumption is .... pennies when compared to buying a rig. In any case

        - network latency issues as well as current gen touchscreen input lags (with exception of gamer centric phones/ ipad pro has lower touch rate refresh, as well as display) = not the best control

        - above problem means network/cloud gaming is restricted to high speed wifi environment only. even then there are lags...so puzzles/turn based games, are likelt only games that are playable. Good luck with playing anything action involved.

        - lack of proper input method also hinderes gaming experience. even on current gen consoles are being laughed at by PC gamers with far superior mouse and keyboard as input. Then there is arcade sticks for fighting games, racing wheels for racing etc.. controller was only ever really better on PC when playing games like souls series.

        - also lack of screen estate makes mobile games simple. no space = no complicated control = game tends to be simple. a lot of reasons why so many mobile games come and go....because they cannot simply retain player base (and bad short-term profit based revenue models a.k.a pay 2 win)

What the guy is saying is a pure dream at this point..and will likely stay that way unless peripherals for mobile games evolve

Adapt or die, 10 May 2019Mobile gaming is the future. No point investing in a PC rig... moreWhat about the data costs and the internet speeds to stream those games in high resolution ?
Playing games straight out of your storage is still the future as games are getting bigger in size year after year and mobile phones are still a lot behind the PCs in terms of CPU and GPU processing power.
Also PC gaming market is also expanding so to think that mobile is the future for gaming is foolish. Mobile gamers will game on mobile and someday may buy a PC if they are serious whereas PC gamers will continue to game on a PC and may game on their smartphone when they are away from their PC.

I played Asphalt 9 and the devs have the nerve to implement a grindfest where you need to race 400 (yes, four HUNDRED) times to (maybe) get the car you needed for a mega-event, and you have to do it within 14 days.

And still I am in no way skillful enough to go against my fellow Youtube buds

Anonymous, 10 May 2019Overall PC gaming is much better.Playing better games does not make real gamers.

People still playing mario on nes.. those are gamers
People fortnight on mobile.. still gamers.
                    Dota.. gamers also!

Gamers have their preferences. Once you are serious into a game, ur a gamer. Regardless of platform.

He’s more of a technical gamer. But if its me, i will use Intel NUC couple with a egpu, so i can ramp up the FPS on demand.. and keep low power consumption by turning off the egpu when playing low demand games.

Google is already moving into this area, for those without technical knowledge, and not wanting to own any hardware.

Real gamers play with there mobile phones too. As the games they are pros is like a work for them where they get paid for playing minimum 8 hours a day to practice and get skills better.

30 fps is just pure garbage, and even 60 fps is just ok-ish. Have 144+ fps makes games so much better, and you cannot run these without a decent hardware (read dedicated GPU that would be north of £300+ depending on game).

Also 720p? What is this, early 2000's? Minimum is 1080p, and 4K is now gaining momentum. Oh, and VR if you are interested. Mix these, you are taling high-end system.

Games themselves also have immersive storyline (well some of them do), stunning visuals, excellent music to accompany them...and of course depth. A lot of good PC games can sink hours of gameplay to truly understand the mechnics behind it, and even without such thoese games would stil boast hours of playtime. In contrast most mobile games (like 90%) are F2P...or rather Pay2Win. tons of microtansactions to generate quick profits. Sure these exist in PC/console gaming too, but mobile games literally thrive on this model and has no depth.

I'm not a gamer but I play games sometimes while waiting or when bored. But mobile gaming is joke compared by PC gaming or Console gaming. Same is web browsing. It is better on PC with ad blocker installed.

Anonymous, 10 May 2019Mostly are casual players. Casual players do not invest in ... moreHere's a different idea:

Take the MateX "outtie" idea of having the main screen on the outside, bezel-less and whatnot, have that part of the phone (screen) travels at least 220 degrees outward.

Have physical buttons just for gaming, on the back of the phone (when folded) / on the bottom side of the phone (when "outtie deployed").

The removable battery should be on the bottom/back side. Those who don't like thickness caused by battery mods on regular phones would like this because in "phone mode" there's no way to put mods in between the two parts (because this is an outtie), but I would generally appreciate thickness when in "gaming mode" because gamepad feels comfortable when they're thick. Yes, battery mod + gamepad mod applicable only in "gaming mode".

Why would there need for battery mods after having removable battery, you say? Because this opens another form of battery, the one that can be any size between the removable and the mod, one that connects directly into the phone (unlike mods which connects to the internal battery and then the phone? I'm not sure.)

If the foldable managed to get themselves decently IP rated, this should as well.
