Google finally talks Fuchsia OS - not as ambitious as we thought

11 May 2019
The topic of the mystery OS finally came up at Google I/O. Apparently its more experiment than practical project at this point.

I find Fuschia OS to be fairly ambitious. Why does the writer headline the project as non-ambitious only to contradict himself towards the end? Illogical.

    "The OS is really scalable..."

Sounds like Windows Core OS to me.

It was around the time of Windows phones, and the people who had Windows Mobile could basically use Continuum, which is like DeX on the Samsung phones. The difference is that it was like two way, your phone can become your computer and your computer can load stuff straight into your phone

Initially, the Windows windowing system was separate from the rest of Windows - like the windowing system X is in Linux. However, the frame rates were not enough for gaming which is why the windowing system was subsequently merged with the rest of the OS. Fuchsia seem to regress on this.

I agree it is an awkwardly spelled word.

I suppose they could do what they did with the name "Google." That comes from the word googol, but they didn't like the spelling, so they just spelled it how they wanted. Maybe they could change the spelling of their OS to "Fiusia" or "Fiusha."
