Anonymous, 22 May 2019what's the worst thing that can happen?Just being manipulated to do whatever is subtly dictated to you while making you think you have free will and those are your own thoughts, opinions, actions, and reactions. Basically becoming a semi-mindless drone.

    No biggie, just that. Enjoy!

They target users with information, politics, opinion changing articles, details about current matters, and so on. All they care about is to get you to click on the content which brings them most profit. It doesnt take a genius to figure out that this is a flawed method of delivering “the best” information to users *cough*subjects*cough* as this biases them towards what they like and enjoy and puts them on a downwards spiral to being targeted and manipulated to act and think as the biggest payer wants people to act and think.
            This is google and facebook.

Huawei on the other hand, just needs to infiltrate and syphon information about non-chinese people, businesses, governments, etc. back to China so the mother country gets an advantage over other ones.

To be honest, you can try to avoid all the disguised manipulation and the chinese spying by not using anything coming from google, anything facebook related, anything chinese-designed and make the details about you and your online presence so granular that it cant be pieced together unless all companies out there decide to cooperate and share all the user information they have amongst each other.

That means dont use gmail, gdrive, gdocs, gmusic, g smart speakers, google home, google car, android tied to google services and play store, no facebook, no instagram, no whatsapp, no chinese brand devices.

You're not important enough for any big company to care what you do. They just want to provide you with better ads so that they can earn more money. It's just that. Stop trying to assume your existence matter to anyone important

so they bring in tracking which they already had, and then the U.S. put Huawei on the entity list? ouch...
for those of you that haven't heard, basically means google will no longer provide support to them. so no google play store, no access to gmail, nothing.

Services need to learn to keep up.

People blame loss of privacy, yet they want the best suggestion on new music for them.

Its just like telling ur friend to pick a song people in this region likes, but you blindfold him and refuse to tell him where he is.

Don’t mistake all data collection as bad. Especially when you already click accept on the terms and condition. Blame yourself for not reading the fine print

Aspros, 19 May 2019Wtf? Ambient noise? So that means our phones listen to us 2... moreMaybe do a little research first.

Although I'm not advocating the rate at which Goolge etc collect data on us the Now Playing function does not record everything you say 24/7 and send it to google.

The Now Playing function is performed entirely on device and the music database that it references is entirely on device. It won't be recording everything you say, it produces a short waveform from the sound in the vicinity and after algorithmically filtering out voice and ambient noise, then attempts to match that waveform against the on device database. Once it has a match it displays the result. It would have no more than a few seconds of sound in buffer at a time. Think of how quickly Shazam and match a song.

I believe that if they are incorporating location into this it will also be kept entirely on device as I've not heard anything about the Now Playing history being transmitted back to Google .

Anyway, regardless if it records the location then you have GPS on, and if you have GPS on then Google and your carrier have your location history. Although it's creepy in some ways to think that they have access to this data, it is still beneficial for the user as well as I know I've used my location history a few times to prove I was somewhere and when I was there or in one case prove I wasn't there.

Wtf? Ambient noise? So that means our phones listen to us 24/24h, recording everything we say and hear, send to Google's servers where it is processed and if it detects known music it notifies us the title? And all that is happening in the background, without even opening our phones? How is this even legal? Why would anyone commit all that battery and data for an always on shazam? And gives him the right to record everything his phone can listen, while closed in his pocket?
