Asus releases bootloader unlock tool and kernel source code for ZenFone 6

21 May 2019
Unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty, and you won't receive any OTA updates from Asus in the future.

    1. "And thats better than damaging the phone by instaling much more bloatware than the phone should have" WHAT A JOKE!!! So you say that the phones SHOULD have bloatware, but not much more... Much from from what? From what reference? Define how much please (Oh yes, I know, as much a Xiaomi has, is your definition of satisfactory bloatware, right?)
Answer: Phones comes with preinstalled OS android usualy. Lineage the worst case. or IOS the pure devil.
If you can void OS and bootloader instaling something own you will add a lot more bloatware than phone would have. What own you can install to your phone instead to a well working google android which have security patches updates and so on???
For what sake someone would void warranty by unlocking bootloader and install own crap??? Who are you??? What do you thinking??? I realy dont undesrand you but your point is wrong such as your statement.

    2. "And Cyanogen combined with project Treble is the best possible thing any phone can have". Helloooo... LineageOS since 2016!!!!!. AND afaik for the vast majority of phones, you HAVE to unlock the bootloader in order to install it.
So, stop speading bull**** around. Keep it for your comments in the next Sony article. LOL

Since when Lineage is better than Android??? LFMAO.
Dont try to make me laugh.

-ASUS ZF6 6/128 ASUS ONLINE SHOP GERMANY: 560e
      -ONE PLUS 7 PRO 6/128 1+ONLINE EUROPE ESHOP: 700e
DIFFERENCE IS +25% - YES TWENTY FIVE PERCENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT 10%. Same percentage for the 8/256 models respectively. SO, State the true facts FFS.
-Also the fact that the ZF6 is also available at 6/64Gb (All of them feaure an independent SD card btw) even cheaper @ 500e, but that's not apples to apples so I will not compare.

As for the effectively single camera, crippled ONE+ 7, compared to ZF6, in EU is the same price. So for the same $$$ you get a crippled single camera, crippled battery, lower quality amoled, crippled video recording resolution, no extra storage option (SD), no jack (some like it - I do not care), stupid (personal opinion) notch, unspecified gorilla glass, no FM radio (again I do not care - some people do though), and the rest is personal taste. The ONLY advantage of vanilla 1+7 over ZF6 is the USB 3.1 and perhaps the developer community in another forum we all know, but let's wait and see until after the ZF6 sells to the masses.
But back to the point: Talk facts, not bull****.

Second you don't have a clue what your talking about.
One plus have 86 SELFIE camera. Asus uses REAR camera to take SELFIES. IT TAKES MUCH BETTER SELFIES. If you dont get it, your more dumb that I thought. Yeap your dumb or liar..choose.
Man we were speaking about back camera. And as i posted from camera on Asus hasnt been reviewed so what do you want?

Asus zenFone 6 don't have ZenUI have Android+, but again...your clueless and didn't watch the event, so you don't have a clue but still you like to talk what you don't know nothing.
Man https://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_6_zs630kl-9698.php Ecven GSM arena said it have Zen UI this it have bloatware again your lack of knowledge surprises me and your increased geniality of forcing false statementd and presenting them as truth suprises me even more. I dont know what i should think about you.

10% is still a fact. you saying it's worst, means nothing, just a troll.
Yes just a troll for that 10% price increase oneplus 7 pro offers a hell load more of features which means the phone is at complete different level and much better value for money.
But feel free to buy the a lot worse asus i dont care a damn thing.

Asus zenfone 6 will be one of the firsts phone to have android Q like asus 5z from last year will have. it's one the android Q beta program. But again, you only ready one plus news..so this is news for you.
Man thats Asus 5Z not 6. When comes to updates Asus is Equal to HTC or LG so Asus 6 will have android Q when Oneplus 8 will be testing adroid R.

Asus have fast charging (slower than one plus).
With 5000mAh you will only need to charge in 2 or 3 days. If you asked 1000 people if they prefer to charge 2 or 3 times a week in 1h.40m each time or in 1h05m every day...you will get 999 to choose to recharge less time, you are the 1 you prefer to charge faster every day
Man that 1300 mAh adds maybe few hours not a days. If i ask 1000 people they will pay 10% more for a lot better device with lot more features. Charging or +1300 mAh isnt everything. Iphones selling pretty well and they havent 3000 mAh battery before XS Max were released. Your statement is complete false.

Better screen 90hz? are your retard? I'm comparing asus zenfone 6 to the one plus 7 NOT the PLUS. Plus model is more than 10% expensive and don't have a notch. but again your clueless you didnt get that and you don't know math.
Man even Oneplus 7 not pro have better screen than Asus.

Regarding software again.. Ineplus 7 Cyanogen best among all androids. Any UI Asus, Huawei Samsung, Xiaomi etc contains from some to a lot bloatware.

          This is from android central:
"ZenUI 6 has more than superficial changes, though. ASUS claims its intelligent memory management and optimization of the Android framework help the ZenFone 6 perform common tasks, like opening a recent photo in the gallery app, quicker than the Android competition. I can't say I've noticed a major difference in responsiveness compared to the Huawei P30 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro I've been using recently. On the other hand, in my brief time with it so far, the ZenFone 6 has delivered silky-smooth performance and quick app load times.

The bottom line on software is pretty simple: ASUS knows users like its features, just not the overbearing UI that surrounded them. The remedy in the ZenFone 6 is an obvious but welcome solution: Fast, stock software with helpful additions here and there. In that way, ZenUI has evolved to become much more like OnePlus's OxygenOS than anything else out there."
Nice jokes: How someone would recently use Oneplus 7 pro which hasnt been for sale week ago. This statement is complete false and you are a liar.
Because i cant trust you anymore i have no use of you and no reason to rely on you.
Your statements are false and you proven you arent trustworthy.
But wish you great life and a have a nice day.

Clean android is best. Such as my Moto X4 or any nokia phones.

acemang, 21 May 2019Jack is dead for you and is dead for me for the last 3 year... moreHello my friend.
I understand people care for the jack but is kinda useless and bad. Its the last analog thing in a cell phone thus it have no place and space for that and i am glad they removing it.
More and more upcomming phones have less and less jack.

SD card is nice to have but for what sake would anyone needs more than a 64GB of disk space??? Photos doesnt take that much. And who would recording in 4k if HD video is more than enough??? I can understand that adult industry lovers wozuld like to have even 200TB but thats the only exception.
I carry my 2,5 external HDD with TB inside. SD cards useless or at least not needed as in past.

Man as you said you and me are not end of universe so its not on us whether phone makers add or undo notch. We just have to use it or pick othervise.

Man back camera have 111 and front have 86 on one plus 7 pro your statement is a lie.
But yes Zenfone 5 had 90 and that was a back camera front hasnt been reviewed.
https://www.dxomark.com/oneplus-7-pro-camera-review/ Please check here and stop calling me liar if you are clueless just ask.

Asus Zenfone have ZenUI such as Samsung UI, Huawei UI or Mui by xiaomi it have some bloatware.

10% cheaper is maybe fact but its a much worse phone so it doesnt matter.

There are plenty of valid arguments such as much better screen, 90HZ refresh rate, much better stereo, faster charging more premium design and of course Cyanogen the best among all androids. Also the oneplus is a part of project treble and have a frequent and often updates. Where Asus such as Samsung or LG barely updating their devices.

acemang, 22 May 2019you can install free or stolen apps without unlocking your ... moreYea (even though I have performed jailbreak on countless Apple devices in the past, and the reason was NOT t osteal or anything, but to apply countless modifications to the OS, to make it useful at least - that were later implemented by Apple themselves).
In any case the Apple example is irrelevant in a way. Why? Because Apple has it's own ecosystem. It has started locked (almost) and remains like that all the way through the years. Buyers have a choice. If the want an Apple, they KNOW it's locked. THe know they cannot have an apps drawer, etc, etc. So again FREEDOM OF CHOICE.
And this Apple locking is perhaps the biggest reason for SOME to NOT buy an Apple (price not so much, because the others are approaching that range anyway), plus of course interaface, options, etc etc.
One of Android's biggest benefits of course is the fact that is more open. Hence why almost ALL the manufacturers modify the interface, and some of them so much that is almost un-recognisable (specially the Chinese).
Also allow me to disagree in the unlocking part. I do not know for which phone you are talking about, but certainly the vast majority requires an unlocked bootloader - or a compatible workaround in order to install another OS and sometimes even another modified ROM. And anyway all this stuff is not for the faint-hearted anyway.
Finally, if you really HONESTLY believe your statement "The only persons that needs root access are the ones that will going to mess with files that they should not be allowed too, not only to steal them but to change data that they should not.", then I am sorry to say that you are CLUELESS. I can give dozens of reasons to root a phone, but wouldn't make sence to the noobs.

Anonymous, 22 May 2019I know very well what you mean and you are partly right. Bu... moreyou can install free or stolen apps without unlocking your device and without google play services. But to STEAL them without root access it's much harder.
The only persons that needs root access are the ones that will going to mess with files that they should not be allowed too, not only to steal them but to change data that they should not.
To install another OS in your device you should not need to unlock it. Just a menu in definitions > upload rom, install rom at your own risk and voiding warranty. Ofc companies don't want this menu, because their assistence will get 100x more calls from dumb people that will f**k their device playing with this menu and still blaming the companie for allow them to mess with their device.

Regarding of North Korea rules, Apple as far as I know is from USA, and is the companie that I know with the most rigid rules (tech companies).

-Stealing other people's apps for free has nothing to do with the bootloader. You can install a "stolen" / pirated app on ony phone
-The same applies with Windows anyway. Viruses, Trojans, etc. But you have the freedom to buy a windows PC and install Linux (or both) or anything you like. So what now? Will we stick to Apple's sandbox policy? In any case, if you want, you can use sandbox function on the forthcoming Windows update.
-For all the reasons you mention, this is why the phones are sold with a locked bootloader. Fair enough, and I agree. Bootloader unlocking IS and MUST BE an OPTION for whoever is willing to take the risk, and as you know comes with plenty of warnings about security, warranty etc. The manufacturer has fulfilled the obligations by selling a locked bootloader, warns the user of any possible problems, but then it's up to the individual to decide. This is freedom, not North Korea (no offence) tactics.

Most Zenfones received a bootloader unlock tool, yet few got attention from developers.

This year's Zenfone may be an exception, though. As you said, it ticks all the boxes. I can think of many developers just wanting to tinker with the camera movement sofware :)
