A lot of people are saying Apple stole designs from Huawei, but Apple has always had a design curve that is more than one iteration into the future. Apple had this design probably two years ago, and maybe that was stolen by Huawei for the camera design?

Crappy wide angle lens, I’m sure it won’t be any change in telephoto lens, crappy design with horrible Notch on top of it, for sure cheaper displays and cheaper body materials, no OiS on wide angle and telephoto as rumors say, same ugly horrible design and camera bump. Don’t forget the most important it will be at least 200-300 EUR price raise.
I’ll go with a Huawei P30 Pro or I’ll Este for the Mate 30 Pro

Anonymous, 24 May 2019Very ugly. Two camera is enough.I prefer more versability but not this ugly horror. With two cameras is even worse, as that hump with less cameras looks terribly optimized

1. Huawei ban has absolutely nothing to do with Apple or handsets in general - the DoD/CIA could not care less about the phones on store shelves. It is primarily about the USA fearing they will lose technological dominance to China on 5G and beyond. Note how (incredulously) multiple carriers only recently discovered that Huawei 4G RAN hardware only provided an upgrade path to Huawei 5G hardware. It is also about the perceived /potential/ of a not-really-ally nation to disrupt critical communications should relations deteriorate/interests clash/conflict arise.
2. Grey dark modes are about reducing the effects of subpixel decay. Particular swaths such as the columns where menu characters tend to be will degrade faster vs a normally full black background, and result in a noticeably uneven display over time. I would speculate that the gray is not completely uniform on a pixel to pixel basis, and that the brightness varies slightly over time to try to even out wear across the panel as much as possible. Similar techniques were employed by Plasma televisions to combat the effects burn in.
