Seriously, i think that they will add an intermediate number "0", like 0.07 nm, but then-again ... quantum physics ?

            3nm? Unbelievable.

so in the future will be 0.1 mm nano tech SoC???

Anonymous, 27 May 2019You are wrong . 16nm to 14 is 14% increment while 10 to 7nm... moreNo, you are wrong.

16nm, 14nm, 12nm, 10nm etc etc they are nomenclature, and not actual gate-size. If you don't believe me, that's fine, just read up on the proper details of the dies on offer or see some head to head comparisons (for instance, Intel's 32nm chips were just as good, if not better, than TSMC's 20nm chips).

Quality/Maturity will definitely improve, but not much improvements for density, power, and performance. It's like the difference of a 16nm to the 14nm node.

What's more exciting are the +20% CPU and +30% GPU performance improvements, at roughly the same battery and cost. These will come in 2020 thanks to ARM's new Cortex A77 and Mali G77 designs.

With these, the next Kirin 990 and Exynos 9830 in 2020 will finally match the 2017 Apple A11-Bionic SoC. Whilst Qualcomm is expected to surpass it slightly.

(Not to mention the new AMD Ryzen 3000 CPU, and RX 5000 GPU, expecting to push the next PS5 and Xbox V to the performance of proper Gaming PCs).
