Here in 2021, I definitely DEFINITELY hope that Apple can release an updated 8th gen version of the iPod Touch with an A12 chipset and 3GB or 4GB RAM. For someone like me who only want to use an iOS-powered smartphone as a tertiary backup device, this is definitely a great phone to have.

i've been used iPod touch 3rd in 2009, 5th in 2013, and expected to buy 7th
i tought it would be same design as iPhone 6, but the reality.......

One would think a new iPod means an overhauled product. But no sir! Just an upgraded dated technology.
Thanks for keeping the headphone jack, but for anything else, I'd just buy a cheap Chinese crap and be content with my ample storage and agreeable sound, and still have change in my pocket.
I was never an audiophile to begin with.

Just t... morei doubt an 50 ohms headphones sound very decent on any phone apart from onkyo dp-cmx1 with 2.5mm balanced output, i have 32ohms akg k551, it's ok on my sony xzs (driving the impedence wise), but it shines on my sony high resolution player, nw-zx100, no phone can compete with the quality of the sound esp as i use only flac which either ripped myself from cd or purchased 24bit 96khz high res flac, but i normally use my sony xba-40 in earphones mostly when outdoors

Better if u swap cable for balancef 2.5mm or 4.4mm, balanced output will cater for higher impedance, due to higher output

But aptx hd and Ldac use 600kbps or more, yes, I have used Sony 1000xm2 on my nw-zx100 High resolution wireless codec ldac, it's awesome.
Also uses Aptx hd via astell and Kern xb10 on a astell and Kern ak320, sounds great at hi-fi show, using 4 balanced armature earphones xba-40
Better than standard Bluetooth Audio due to high bitrate

Been waiting for a 4k camera model since iphone. Just like Apple to botch up my initial move to them again. Every product that I have wanted to move to has had something done to it to stop me. Like removing optical drives instead of going to bluray many years back. Always lacking something latest needed for my work. They still have not put in the 4 camera array showed off after they bought the Israeli firm with it (like the p20 module). P30 and Nokia outclass it.

I have tried Bang and Olufsen, bower and Wilkins, zik Bluetooth headphones and i have a bose. None of them sound as good as my Sennheiser HD599 through 3.5mm. Don't fall for advertises. Bluetooth might be more convenient but it doesn't deliver sound as good as 3.5mm no matter aptx or whatever is activated.
