AnonD-59899, 09 Jun 2019Do you have a 4k screen on your phone?FHD is still a whopping 9GB. And I have WQHD so it's still going to be more than 10GB per hour. And I dunno much people that would pay to play less than an hour a month.

this will be awesomeee, no problem with the data since it only cost us $1 for 3 GB of data in my country, gonna get this stuff for sure

Popy, 08 Jun 2019I'm not willing to spend 9gb data for an hour of 1080p gami... moreOkay. They ain't crying about it.

Those numbers are just calculation based on recommended speeds and don't mean crap before Google announces the numbers. Not that you'd care, I'm sure you'd just find another stupid reason.

And will never cause the death of gaming phones in anyway they can try how much hard they want it will never cause even a threat to gaming phones just because of the fact that data is expensive on phones and when my data is finished I can't game that's too bad

I'm not willing to spend 9gb data for an hour of 1080p gaming let alone that it takes 16,gb /, hour for 4k resolution no way would rather buy a good PC and play more than 1000+ hours for free

Why do people have so much trouble understanding this? It's like Netflix for games. Yes you need a half decent internet connection, no it's not the same as running in on your own gaming PC, no it's not for people who spend all of their lives playing FPS in their mother's basement and judge their quality of life by their in-game ping. So it's not for everyone but a lot of people want to play some games for a bit with a minimum of fuss and delay, they have a good internet connection, and this service is for them.

Here's another analogy who still don't get it: cars. Some people buy their own cars, some people take public transport, some people buy million dollar Proches. They all get you from A to B, it's just a question of what works for you.

It isn't that hard to understand.

AnonD-558092, 08 Jun 2019And they want you to stream on your phone... On data... And... moreI have 15GB of data for 7 euro a month for my phone where i hardly use 2-3GB of it. But for gaming it wont be enough like this. At home i have unlimited data for 25 euro and is optical both ways speed of 100Mbps and wont have the problem. But Stadia needs to be like Netflix in order to make sense. For what reason i have to use Stadia when i need to buy the game out to play it in cloud with a fee. I rather buy game out and then install it on my PC and play it online without any extra cost. The whole point for this Stadia would be to play games online that you dont buy out and there for dont own any of the copies of them. You just get to play them for the monthly subscription you pay for.

Anonymous, 08 Jun 2019People was saying smartphone would kill traditional gaming ... moreThere is still time for the mobile gaming to kill of console gaming and maybe even PC gaming. Phones are still on baby steps if we talk about gaming. And as news lately we know that even AMD is starting to make graphics cards for phones. So wait a decade more and you see that phones be in the level with hardware and have that much content that there is no point of owning console. These stream gaming will get there too. But well for stream games it need to be subscribe to service that give you access to games to play and you dont need to buy every game and then pay for subscription to get to play them in cloud. Thats one of the reason why i dont think this Stadia will be good in any way. Makes no sense to buy a game on PC and then pay subscription to get to play the games online. It's as bs as with console. First buy expensive console, then buy expensive games and then pay subscription to get to play these game online. And that talk about free games is a joke. How can there be free games if you get access to them only if you subscribe and pay the monthly fee for access to them. What exactly makes them free games this way ? EA origin have monthly subscription where you can play what ever game from EA for that monthly subscription and dont need to buy out any of the games to play them. Thats how these need to be. Pay for access to stadia and have access to large list of new and old games that you can play in the cloud and dont need to buy out any of them to play.

AnonD-784107, 08 Jun 2019Yep that's big data. Again great if your on 100mb fibre. I ... more5G will take years before they get the tech to a point where you can get the theoretical speeds at a constant rate. The wavelengths are too susceptible to interference from all sorts of sources. Part of why the Samsung 5G has antennas all over the phone because even your hand can block the wavelength.
The important part is that they are starting implement it. Then they will need to enhance it.
Latency is not really that big of an issue on the internet. You can send large payloads to any servers and it will be super quick on most connections. I know MS has predictive technology that will try to guess your next move and send the next frame according to that. There may also be extra bandwidth needed to send multiple frames to adjust based on what actions you are taking in a game.
There is too much variability to account for. There will likely be a lot of caching occurring in order to make it seamless.
Latency will only be an issue if there is no tech used to predict movement or any caching used. Bandwidth will be the biggest factor. If this catches on then the way hardware is built may change to accommodate for this type of model. Compression algorithms can assist in keeping quality good and minimizing bandwidth usage. The hardware doesn't have to render any complex polygons simply decompress the payload.

With expensive Data plans and caps, not sure this will easily catch on in the mobile world. It will likely be better to just stream it to the phone via your home network.
I don't think internet providers would be too happy about it either and will likely try to interfere in the process as they always do.
Baby steps. The early adopters will help with creating better solutions.

I ... moreYeah I'm worried about the quality loss. 35Mbps for 4K HDR and 5.1 Surround sound? Must be laggy or suffers from severe quality loss. Unless they went all-in and they have mega powerful GPUs that encode the stream in HEVC in a blink of an eye. But we're talking about those ultra expensive GPUs.

Anonymous, 08 Jun 2019And 15.75 GB per hour at 4K.And they want you to stream on your phone... On data... And places where speeds and latency are decent enough for this have data buckets so small a simple hour would cost you 1K$ (especially here in Canada. Each GB over your plan is 100$. Not kidding at all and I hate it)

I just can't believe it's possible to stream a 1080p or 4k game on 25mb connection. It will probably work in theory with major latency (lag). I think you have to be realistic. Maybe the perfect solution would be a 5G connection.

While I appreciate the technical achievements but I think unless your a full fibre connection. This is isn't going to work in some parts of the UK with 5mb Internet yeah great on 100mb fibre. Good luck with streaming a 1080p game on a low connection. Lag central me thinks.
