fdbf, 13 Jun 2019you are dreaming, there will be no total annihilation. The ... moreGiven intel huge budget it is possible to compete with almost any manufacture but still there is no way to say for sure what happens!
1- i do agree the adaptation rate of RTX is slow but as you mentioned it would get better also there is possibility of adding such thing to games as an update which can happen like doom!
2- you are wrong! there is nothing as RTX tech!
It is a part of DX12 therefor it is a Technic. What nvidia has done is made tensor cores and rt cores to speed up this process which was really interesting and fascinating given huge performance penalty of ray tracing in the past! Also navi's big point was to compete with Nvidia RTX card(as a lot of fans thought and almost said by AMD) but what they gave us? they can't even run RTX let alone beat the nvidia cards in it! I for sure am eager to see how ray tracing would be implemented in PS5 and next xbox (specifically PS5 cause i am sony fan i do own all of their consoles) also keep in mind current gen can do rtx(the game named "child of future" have ray tracing in PS4) so for next gen it is a must
3- well it is STH that happns with every first gen product. You have to wait for 2nd or 3rd gen to get a well implementation of new tech! so i see no point here!
4- Yeah they fuck up hard. their vega 7 is no match for top tier 2080Ti and this new ones (5700 series) are hardly on pare with nvidia's counterparts!
5- i haven't seen RSI in action but DLSS is good but not perfect and it need time to mature out!
All in all the competion is good. it cause for innovation and at some point price decrease

Moj, 12 Jun 2019Well ray tracing isn't gimmick! it was in indastry around 4... moreyou are dreaming, there will be no total annihilation. The intel team is the one they poached from the AMD team.

      1. How many ray tracing games are available right now? 3?
      2. XBOX and PS5 are both using Navi with ray tracing support, I doubt both companies would have allowed AMD to release any card with the tech inside this year, else it would give away a lot of what to expect. I expect Navi with ray tracing to come out next year a couple of months before the consoles.
      3. Next year would be a more sensible choice to get a card with ray tracing support as more games will be available, buying one last year or even this year makes no sense. Paying for an RTX tax at launch was such nonsense, next year makes more sense, since I expect more games to be available and the next year cards to be 1.5x better that the current ones.
      4. AMD fcked up on this 5700, I agree, a lower price point would have made it such a compelling choice and made the 16XX nvidia cards obsolete.
      5. Still I love their RSI solution compared to DLSS, I will wait for actual reviews from 3rd parties to see how good it is. DLSS is such a fcking gimmick upto now, could change in the future.

Well ray tracing isn't gimmick! it was in indastry around 40-50 year ago but it was too demanding just like it is now. The tech has been matured a lot since very first appropriate appearance of ray tracing(it was in 1995 with the animation "toy story") which at the time took 4-5 hour to render a single frame! now it take like no time!
Back to topic: As a lot of my friends who are AMD fans said i waited for "navi" but it was really meh and didn't live up to the hype it made before it's lunch!
Simply AMD is well behind in the Graphic card game!
With intell at doorstep of dGPU we might see AMD total annihilation who knows!

Let me eiiiiiiiiin, 12 Jun 2019Rtx is gimmicks tho. Even most expensivetestestest gpu can'... moreBut you gain that option at the same price, so you obtain more equally with the RTX. I'll watch the reviews but at similar performance, i'll choose the one with lower power consumption and with the capabilities that i consider more interesting.

For now i still prefer the RTX 2060/2070 but anyways i'll watch the comparatives next month. I'm sure that in real test the ones from Nvidia with consume less power, run cooler and give you the option of active the raytracing if you want, the others don't even have that alternative.

Let me eiiiiiiiiin, 12 Jun 2019Rtx is gimmicks tho. Even most expensivetestestest gpu can'... moreI guess I have to agree. Even though ray tracing is not a gimmick, it's just too demanding for the weak RTX cards, including 2080ti.

I hope for ray tracing at max settings in 4K running at 120fps in 3-5 years time on AAA titles.

I'm guessing 2020's flagship GPUs will manage 4K60 with raytracing. Good enough for many types of games :-)

Blutbad-fuchsbau, 12 Jun 2019I didn't know this became Graphics Card Arena!I could agree to a certain degree that RTX is a gimmick, still a card without the dedicated hardware costs as much as one having it. I think it's not looking good for AMD

Well this is too powerfull to run Borderlands 3 game but i bet it wont run a tetris or checkers :-)

Blutbad-fuchsbau, 12 Jun 2019I didn't know this became Graphics Card Arena! They've been doing PC stuff for years. You must be quite new here.

lottery248, 12 Jun 2019Say goodbye to Intel... unless they can catch up with AMD.Ice Lake seems to deliver nice performance, both CPU and iGPU. The just out i7-1065 G7 delivers performance similar to 8559U with only 55% base clock speed, while the Gen11 GPU delivers performance as good as MX150/MX250. That's more than good for most people and certainly won't wave goodbye to Intel.

Even most expensivetestestest gpu can't run it @ full quality without massive performance penalty, better wait real ray tracing become mainstream later. Vendor specific technology tend to fail even gsync now allowed to run on freesync monitors.

I do agree amd gpu is meh for many generations already, but something may happen now because Intel entering discrete GPU stage.
