iPhoneKnockoff, 15 Jun 2019I am really looking forward to seeing KaiOS run in devices ... moreThat would be cool and interesting. I have the Alcatel flip 3 from metro by T-Mobile and its cool but would like maybe a non-flip phone with this OS.

I hope they add the copy-paste feature. It's so difficult to copy and paste a schedule from my sms to the calendar app, and even copying and pasting a forwarded number to save on my contacts is an issue.

Anonymous, 13 Jun 2019the point is ... through evolution ... KaiOS will never be ... moreBut if the KaiOS devices can use...
- the more efficient processors (eg QSD 632, or lower)
- use low-powered internal components
- have oversized batteries for their size (eg 2,000 - 3,000mAh)
- and combined that with a more efficient software than Android
.....then these phones could potentially last for 5 days, like the old Nokia days, and that could be a strong reason to consider getting one.

the point is ... through evolution ... KaiOS will never be lightweight, because of market demand, and the big-brother requirements to shape the market
initial focus of KaiOS is
- 4G LTE E
- GPS
- WiFi
- BlueTooth
- HTML 5 based apps
on non touch low end devices
well, define low-end, shortly, something like ... Samsung Mega 6.3 inch, GT-i9200, on the year its release, circa 2012, considered as mid-range-er, something like Samsung A70, SM-A705, in circa 2019 ... and ... funny-ly, calculator is still calculator, no matter what year it is, and, stand-alone calculator never hangs, freezes, until the battery dies and/or their lcd monochrome 7-segment display leaks, and that, the calculator, is considered low end
also, intel 8088 10 MHz 640KB RAM, intel 80286 12 MHz 1024 KB RAM, even jump to intel 80486-DX 33 MHz 4096 KB RAM with dedicated Math co-Processor, those are low end
or ... look at those smartwatches on top of Qualcomm processor, those are considered low-end, and, making those configuration unchanged for 50 years sticking with original vision of KaiOS, that will make the KaiOS stays at its origin
50 years in the future, from 2019, KaiOS still empowering low-end phones that NEVER FREEZES no matter what, with ...
- always strong on carrier signal
- GPS
- WiFi
and might be ...
- simple interface, low-res social media and video apps that no background processes
- no charging require on 7 days on 1000 mAH user removable battery, running phone, sms, music, and video apps
a phone like calculator, powered by KaiOS, that is maintaining original vision
but, might not ever happened, because
- carier expand capacity and speed, trigger faster processor, bigger ram and rom
- wireless getting faster, more complex
- social media and web browser getting complex
those require more complex operating system, and, the more complex operating system will be, the easier it will crash
so. maybe, 3 years from 2019, KaiOS will be as complex as Android ONE that powering low end smartphones, and, by that, KaiOS evolve to become complex OS, abandoning their original vision, they feel that they must do that because of ... money, tge reason is, the market demands

Aadrian, 13 Jun 2019Totally agree, that would be great. N9 was such a great pho... moreHave you ever used KaiOS? The Symbian in old Nokia phones was much better than KaiOS; Having used Jio Phone as my secondary calling phone, the only thing I can suggest is to stay the duck away from it...

I'm not keen on using WebIDE ... it would be better to use Visual Studio Code.

If KaiOS add RCS support https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Communication_Services and all next-gen smart featurephone OEM make it default messaging app, more Telcos will deploy RCS and SMS will be phased out faster.

Its name should be changed to frustrating OS. I have a Jio Phone with KaiOS and each time I use the phone, it only makes me more frustrated than I already am. Even Nokia Feature Phones from back in the days are much better than this piece of trash called KaiOS. Performance wise, it's way too laggy and the entire OS feels unfinished. Filled with Google Sypwares and Bloatwares. Seriously, why do I want an assistant on a feature phone when I already own a Smartphone. My advice to the people is to stay away from feature phones running KaiOS, you'd thank me later.

Anonymous, 13 Jun 2019I'd love a modern nokia n9 with KaiOS. Totally agree, that would be great. N9 was such a great phone, so was MeeGo OS.
