I don't like Oppo as a brand but i gotta respect the innovations they're bringing to the mobile world. Now, this is only first gen so gotta keep expectations under check.

You have to make sure the panel is see through enough, make sure light from the display doesn't invade, make sure the software works perfectly for turning off the screen in front of the camera, and not suffer from any distortion

Samsung cut hole technology is more sophisticated than a camera under display. The technology of cutting pixels with a laser without damaging the display panel is more complicated than anything else. Although it's not that practical like a camera under a display. Indisplay camera wins in practicality but it's not that complicated.
