im not sold on samsungs variable aperture for the note 10 im disappointed. i think they should go for the larger sensor like most manufactures .i wont be surprised if there is hardly any difference from the s10 plus and wont be as good as pixel or huawei at night shots
mark my words lol

Put a high mp sensor and let it do its oversamling to produce great quality lower mp shots like hwawei. Nobody cares about variable apertures in phones. The s9 shown no difference using both apertures in good light. The only difference it would make is depth of field in close up shots.
So the variable aperture is useless when the phone takes great photos even with 1,5 aperture even in strong lighted conditions without blown out highlights.

https://www.dxomark.com/samsu... more1. iPhone XS uses insanely well-designed image processing algorithms that gives you detailed photos with great dynamic range in any lighting conditions. It's got good quality because its software processing is good, and it would be even better with a larger sensor.
2. P30 Pro is losing some marks for Artifacts section in DxOMark's rating due to the fact that it uses RYYB Bayer filter that introduces stronger demosaicing artifacts.. but honestly I have no idea S10 5G managed to get such a high score for Texture when it shows some obvious oil-painting effect.

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2019And who told you Huawei and Xiaomi has the largest sensors?!.Uh, Google told me? Huawei's flagships use 1/1.78 inch sensor and Xiaomi is now working for a phone with 1/1.72 inch one from Samsung. Other manufacturers are currently stuck with 1/2.55 inch sensors or smaller.

This is pointless. When phones like the Pixel & Huawei can take incredible photos in all lighting conditions with a single aperture, it becomes clear that variable apertures are not required at all.
Hopefully Samsung has upgraded the camera sensor itself rather than just add a 3-step variable aperture.
