In India, a lot more people would opt for an iPhone if only they would price it appropriately. The Samsung Galaxy S II (31k) is virtually half the price of the 32GB iPhone 4S (51K)!

Calm down... Calm down...
If a first timer wishes to spend more or spend less, I think it's to their own convenience. Nevertheless, his preference must serve him much better than the other.
Above all, we have our own individual preferences when it comes to specs of each devices that we get ourselves on. So this is for consideration, and with that, there's no total crap.
If the purchase proves to be worthless in the end, then it's their own decision they made and not your wallet, not your account, nor your paycheck.
We are here to give our suggestive inputs, and I don't think it'll be a big help if we approach this in such a manner.
Again, just a thought.

[deleted post]i agree a bit. new os users easily get bombarded, and would easily be attracted with android for android is cheap. and easily gets cheaper after a few months, i love ICS too but i could never recommend it for new users bec. of the never ending updates that some units are not covered (fragmented issues) and malware issues

Im a 5x consecutive Android users, ever since android 1.6. End of last year i started using the iPhone 4. I praise Android and will always praise Android for their great system, but I will continue iOS until Android become more complete. iOS still stand as a toy and without Jailbreak it is completely and utterly useless. Those who say that Android will die are clueless to the evolution of technology. On the contrary, Apple's iOS is the one that will most probably die out eventually and will be replaced by a better System by Apple.

i think that would have been windows phone. simply for the fact that it is simple to use and refreshing and also the upcoming windows 8 shows a lot of potential it seems like they will be doing an open yet closed source type of os. android would be next, but i think new users will be having a difficulty when it comes in updating. and would be frustrated with a malware issues just like me. ios is good their lots of apps and smooth but new smartphone users will be having a difficulty when it comes to compatibility in their PC and the boring user interface as well as the limited customization would be a minus point as well.
guys dont get me wrong im just pertaining to NEW BUYERS and not on people who would like to change their current os :)

[deleted post]Stick to one thing.. You are indirectly abusing Droid and then still loving it.. Feels like you are a frustrated husband to Android.. Don't like but still love it.. :)

Android all the way. I never use iphone in my life just because they suck and it cost too much for what I do not understand at all. My first smart phone is Sony Ericsson P910a back in 2004 and it was pretty bad ass at that time. Even when iphone came out back in 2007 people was all over except myself. Iphone at that time people were buying the ringtone for it like crazy and I was still carrying my Sony Ericsson P910

Luckily I have the privilege to be able to try out most of the new smartphones upon arrival, and from feedback of customers, and generally they rate iOS and WP as having the most user friendly inferface, WP having the best/performance experience. From my own experience I'd say Android is the most complex of the lost, and difficult to learn for users, along with stability & performance issues.

Anonymous, 08 Feb 2012offcoz new commer would lean toward Android as IP4s doesn't... moreOnce again, an iPhone 4 and 3gs are either free or under $50. People just prefer 4g phones.

you cant really compare them just from sale of phones. cheapest android phone is about 1/4 the price of iphone. do it is bound to sale more and people prefer cheap phones with touch.
but cheap is always cheap..there is no basis for comparing android with ios. android is a cheap substandard os with substandard apps

offcoz new commer would lean toward Android as IP4s doesn't come cheap where else Android can go as low as 100 bucks, first time buyer may be some kid who still collecting their pocket monet weekly from their parent, what a dumb survey.
