Kangal, 04 Jul 2019It has a 60Hz screen. The "120Hz sampling rate" is basical... moreTo be fair its not a marketing jargon, apple has been using it to great effect. They have been doing same thing since time immemorial to make their phones feel smoother, and i have heard some people claim that their iphone screen refreshes at 120 Hz. It ain't s2pid as long as it works

Gman717, 04 Jul 2019Is there a difference between sampling rate and refresh rat... moreIt has a 60Hz screen.
The "120Hz sampling rate" is basically a lie, or a marketing jargon. You might see (very) slight improvements during scrolling or fast-paced object movement, but it won't be as good as the Nubia and RoG's true-90Hz scrolling. Not to mention the true-120Hz of the Razer Phone and iPad Pro.

Regardless, the current lineup of the Midrange Lenovo Z6-Lite, Midrange Lenovo Z6, and the Upper-Midrange Lenovo Z6 Pro are very good. Great in terms of performance, camera, screen, battery life, ports, and styling. And they're very competitive, especially on price.

And as a last minute surprise, Lenovo has really stepped back on their ZUI OS, and made each of these phones using a very Stockish-OS. So there's little bloat, more memory, responsiveness, and battery life compared to their older generations. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if these phones became cult-classics with the Custom Rom community.

Marco M, 04 Jul 2019Yeah, but their software has been lacking a lot the past ye... moreYeah, their software is and has been iffy. They still remain incompetent on this aspect. They don't really do updates much either, even with their previous flagships. I cannot comprehend why they reverted back to using their own modified version of Android instead of stock Android.

I didn't really pay attention to Z5 Pro because it was expensive (although not as expensive as the first gen slider phones but still). I do get why Google is unsupported, China doesn't use it. You could sideload it I think?? but it won't be perfect. There are better value ones from Lenovo such as Z5 and K5 Pro.

Despite the publicity from the Z5 fiasco, I don't think it has any impact on international buyers and it really isn't that big of a deal as negative people say (inb4 Lienovo). I don't really expect it would be possible but I am disappointed. After that, I don't think I've heard them doing a mistake as big as that one. 120Hz sampling rate is said to increase touch responsiveness / decrease touch input lag just like the 2018 iPhones. I don't think its a drastic improvement and it won't be faster than flagship phones but better than nothing. Maybe they realised about the touch lag from Z5 Pro?

Looks great, wish it was 4/64 and a bit cheaper.

Gman717, 04 Jul 2019Is there a difference between sampling rate and refresh rat... moreI'm not into the very scientific definitions of these terms, but on a simple analogy, the refresh rate refers to how the screen really refreshes in actual usage (or in short, it's what the user will see or experience) while sampling rate, I assume, is either the digitizer of the screen or the software, or perhaps even both of them.
With sampling rate, you probably won't feel the 120Hz fluidity of the screen with your eyes, but perhaps the response rate would be better than typical pure 60Hz displays.
Refresh rate, well you pretty much know it already. It's pure 120Hz inside and out :))

Is there a difference between sampling rate and refresh rate or do they mean the same thing? Basically wanna know if the phone has a constant 120hz..

the review writer , used the phrase "sample rate" instead of "refresh rate" for the display which was obviously wrong. and ppl made comments about it now just to prove he did it correctly he is using that wrong phrase over and over about z6 in different articles
kudos to you man. sample rate is a term in audio files and refresh rate is a term for displays.

DrakeX, 04 Jul 2019I'm actually a Lenovo fan eventhough I've only owned an ent... moreYeah, but their software has been lacking a lot the past years. Take last years Z5 pro, awesome on paper, but the UI was buggy and the camera performance a huge disappointment, even though the hardware components were good. Also the Pro versions aren't supported by google, so no google play nor google apps.

This standard version is okay in the google aspect of things, but I wouldn't go for it. I don't get why a giant like Lenovo has sotfware on the lines with tiny manufacturers like Cubot and Oukitel, even worse in some aspects.

Also, Lenovo's marketing strategy lately, with highly misleading renders, numbers and such is to me a very strange strategy, sure it gets the PR, but in no way is all PR good PR. That hasn't been true since the 90s. Like I mentioned in a comment below, this 120 sampling rate is likely another one of Lenovo's misleading marketing stunts and just a standard 60 Hz panel with 120 Hz sampling that only consumes unnecessary power.

Marco M, 04 Jul 2019Misread your comment originally :-) Yes, this is no matc... moreI'm actually a Lenovo fan eventhough I've only owned an entry-level one a long time ago. They've "always" made great hardware at affordable price. Right now they're focusing exclusively in China which is why their phones are no longer available elsewhere (same like Meizu). I have my temptations of buying the new ones but I worry its resale value.

inek, 04 Jul 2019It's not called sample rate. It's refresh rate. Sample rate... moreIt's intentional. This probably does have a 60Hz refresh rate and 120Hz sampling rate, meaning the software is producing 120 fps, but the display is only showing 60 fps. Same thing as apple is doing with their iphones and call it 120Hz touch sample rate. It is 100% marketing BS and nothing like an actual high refresh rate like the Oneplus 7 pro, RAZR phone, Asus ROG etc.

And as to your question, even if it was and actual 120Hz refresh rate, that alone would not make it a better screen then another device. Better at one aspect, but not necessarily all.

Ron7x, 04 Jul 2019Ok. I like the mi 9t but no microSD. SO i think I'll be tak... moreIt's best to wait for awhile if you're planning to get it. International resellers tend to put some hefty markups on release. On the other hand, Lenovo's software is..something you should be wary of unless you can live with that. At least on Xiaomi's side, you can expect decent custom ROM support. Warranty's also something you should look if you're not careful with your phone. Still, I think Lenovo is trying to be quite competitive and that's nice to see.

Yes, this is no match for the Mi 9T as the Mi 9T offers a notch free experience and great camera performance. Great camera performance is not something Lenovo tends to offer, same goes for their UI and sofware update record as well. Both pretty weak sides of Lenovo, despite their generally speaking decent hardware.

It must be disappointing for international Lenovo fans (assuming there are any) to see that this standard Z6 is already in Google's supported devices list, and the Z6 Pro still isn't- meaning it will most likely stay a China only device just like the Z5 Pro.

Akashraj, 04 Jul 2019Supports 15W charging but comes with 18W charger. Just why?Just like the Z6 Pro, the phone supports 18W but comes with a 27W charger.
But the charger can output only 15W and 27W, in the end the phone charges at 15W with the charger from the box...
Let's hope this 18W charger isn't doing 10W and 18W, or people will be stuck with 10W.

Supports 15W charging but comes with 18W charger. Just why?

The design is like the Z6 Pro but they put the LED flash in the fourth camera placement.
