Death reaper, 12 Jul 2019When will Huawei y5 prime 2018 get 9.1 emiu update No it will not. I just got done with their customer service. First the customer service doesn't even know what they are talking about when it comes to this device. They insist that it has a weather app when it did not. Secondly when I asked when the Android version will be updated, the customer service agent told me no Huawei devices run Android that they run EMUI. Well this just is infuriating. They do not know the difference between a customization for Android and the Operating System. Thirdly, I can not believe that they took the cash and ran. Basically and Y5 device (mine is a Y5 lite) will not be updated at all. So what you got out of the box is what you are stuck with. Yes Android 8.1 Go forget. They will not update to 9.1 or 10. At least when I had a budget Samsung which I have had for several times. I always got at least a 1 version update. Huawei customer service plainly said they will not update this or any Y5 model. So I am switching back.

I'm in South Africa and already on Android 9(Pie) and EMUI 9.1.0 since June on my P20 Lite that I bought in May last year.
Impressive improvement on the overall performance and user interface on the new OS and Huawei's own UI except for the battery - it seems to drain it a bit more.
Looking for a new Pro version and pass this on to my wife..
