And offers a decent phones for reasonable prices.
Compared to Sony where even low end device cost 300 bucks.

When you look at your smartphone you will not notice these bezels, but if display has a notch or cutout you will notice it, because the display with a cutout isn't complete because it covers part of the useful area

Xperia 10 & 20 bezels look hideous, simple as that. Besides the main problem is pricing. Honor View 10 is now $245 brand new with far better in all aspects than Xperia 10 & 20. For the same price of Xperia 10 Plus / 20, u can get brand new Honor View 20 & Honor 20.

I'll never fully understand this fad of bezel snobbery. People complain about bezels then moan about notches and holes. There's absolutely nothing wrong with bezels, unless they're iPhone or Pixel sized which is unnecessary.
This is barely a mid ranger so there's no problem with the large bezels. Always, always a million times better than notches or holes.

mostly use it when i don't have my camera with me, playing some games, and social media, music, and temporary storage for my doc, pics, and other stuffs.
i do like to keep the notch minimal like having those motorized or slide front camera and only or maybe no front camera at all since i only use it to check if there's something on my face or my mouth and leave some of the important sensor (proximity sensor).

The max I can go for my hand size is 5.2" 16:9, 5.7" 18:9, 5.8" 18.5:9, 6" 19:9, 6.1" 19.5:9, 6.5" 21:9. Width matters, not length, a narrow phone is easier to hold than a wide phone. screen-size.info can help you find out what is good for you.

fine by me as it is nothing but visual esthetics and if anything having bezel allows for features they dont have to skimp on

You have to have them for the chin, no matter how small it is. My theory is that they're doing it like this to not possibly overshadow the Xperia 1 in design
