six_tymes, 14 Jul 2019an at&t employee? the 600/700and 800 selected by EU to support 5G penetration will easily support Gbit connectivity. X55 Cat20 modems will have up to 1024 QAM FDD LTE and support TDD implementations as well. I don't see bandwith as an issue. Advanced modulation schemes will solve it.

Joe Dickson, 15 Jul 2019I don't see how you could get a contradicting answer unless... moreAt one place on internet, it was written that lower frequencies can go for huge distances, but they aren't good at penetration of walls/ obstructions, which explains why the older TV antennas and radios required constant adjustment for a clear view.
Also, this link said that Wifi is good at room penetration due to its high frequency, and it also said something about power output- you can increase power to increase penetration per frequency but this increases radiations which are bad for us, and may cross danger limit too.
I think this is mostly BS.
What I've studied actually in the college (I'm a MBA, one of my specialisations was Telecom) was contradicting all this.

Lower frequency has better penetration/range but less data capacity for example 2.4Ghz Wifi vs 5Ghz Wifi or even AM vs FM radio.

You know, a lot of today's bands used to be used for analog TV over the air. Now they got decommissioned. Same for old 2G and 3G bands.

most likely this 5G from Tmobile will roll out after 2022 and if possible merge with Sprint then we have to wait more longer for their 5G to come out than 2023 the full capable.

Handy for us in the uk, as we will have quite a bit of our 5G rollout on lower frequencies.
As pointed out by others already, building penetration etc is much, much better at the low end.
Who wants fast 5G that you have to go outside to use, here's an experiment you can try at home, even better if you have 5ghz WiFi router, get a a bit of 2 sided cardboard box wet, hold near your router and try to pick up signals with the cardboard in the way and see what happens, you have just proved to yourself how usless 5G at high frequencies will be, zero penetration.
What's the point of a public network that only works outside ? 50% of your customers have no service cos their indoors or near a tree or its drizzly rain, heavy fog etc etc..

Some say, penetration is better in high frequency, like Wifi. Others say that since low frequency's reach is further, it penetrates better within range.
But what you said, is accepted on a link talking about 5G, so I'll accept your answer.

Baykko, 12 Jul 2019I wonder why would Verizon and ATT allow T-Mobile to get aw... moren71 (600 MHz) has bandwidth of 35 MHz. Band n78 (3.5GHz) has bandwidth of 100 MHz, making it 3x "faster". Band n261 (28 GHz) has bandwidth of 850 MHz making it +20 times "faster".

However, 5G at n71 is still +50% "faster" than LTE (20MHz max) and it can be aggregated with other LTE bands so it will dramatically improve user experience, will cover vast areas and operators can call it 5G, but it won't provide speeds anywhere near what 5G at n261 can.
