15 July 2019
The first notable ease to the Huawei ban might come sooner than expected.

Kangal, 18 Jul 2019Umm, I don't think you know how this works do you. They ... moreYou are absolutely right but even though they would send all that data back to themselves, someone can still intercept it before it's sent to them, if they know how to of course.

And I also don't agree with many things that the USA has done and is currently doing and even wants to do but this stance is also valid for many other countries as well, especially US "allies" and their wannabe covert "eyes" programs.

AnonD-732843, 18 Jul 2019"Huawei cell towers would send data back to Chinese servers... moreUmm, I don't think you know how this works do you.

They could re-route all the traffic, and do it relatively small latency and power use.
Or smarter yet, they could have AI/Filter the traffic and capture the data they deem worthy. They can clone the data at live-speed and send the copy data steadily back to Chinese servers quite anonymously.

Even more scary, they can mark a data input based on the unique speed of your device which would throw off attempts of spoofing and encryption, and still take the desired data off-site. Once the data is off-site it can be decrypted, pooled, analysed. And tools like this can be created on Day One, but can be sent a couple months afterwards as a Firmware Update.

This means, even if a Cell Tower is inspected and found "Clean", it can be compromised later and used against people and governments. That's the reason why it's so important to have Cell Towers that are iron-clad shut from a security perspective, do not have any backdoors, and are maintained by a neutral group (eg Nokia Networks).

And while I don't agree with many things USA has done and is doing, there really is a cause to be concerned with the CPC, especially when you look into the things that are happening lately.

That would mean there would be 2x the traffic flow of data which leads me to ask if you really think traffic data can't be monitored or blocked?

And who would pay for all that extra data being sent as energy consumption would be 2x more as well? Consumers?

I presume you've heard about itemised billing?

We are talking about huge Terabytes of data being sent to China right under the noses of the technicians at AT&T, Verizon Sprint, etc (not one of whom stood shoulder to shoulder with SoS Mike Pompeo (this is how Huawei steals information) when he was on his world tour threatening Governments you install Huawei equipment and you lose US security intel.

This was about Trump holding Huawei hostage in order to get China to sign a one sided Trade Deal

Where in anything said by Trump is there no longer a threat to National Security ( the UK Government was testing 5G equipment)

Trump had a history of making statement not supported by any facts
Just because he signed an Executive Order, well
Now we are all friends again, what's missing facts in order to spy you need target, e.g. a phone number helps as does non encryption, you need a lot of physical data before spying begins

This 5G equipment are in host countries, Huawei install
You have just accepted Trump and filled in the blanks

Alex, 15 Jul 2019So, is Huawei spying on us, or is Huawei not spying on us? ... moreThe "spying" thingy is just a face for the Trade War. Everybody knows a country spies on the other country. The real deal here is the economic implication, hence the US is low key easing the black list slowly because it's starting to affect US companies. US wants to slow down/damage the Chinese economy, but doing so also hurts US economy. Reagan did similar things to Japan (sanctions/ tariffs) when Japan was having their economic boom, but Japan grew all the same.

Alex, 15 Jul 2019So, is Huawei spying on us, or is Huawei not spying on us? ... moreHuawei is spying on you. And so is Facebook. And so is Google.

This whole fiasco was not about Huawei smartphones, because that was little threat to the USA. It was about Huawei building 5G Celltowers, which would be unchecked and send data back to Chinese servers which could have huge ramifications. I think that Huawei was barely hindered by the ban, on their smartphone front. However, the smartphone ban was funding their 5G rollout so who knows, maybe they received more cash injections by the Chinese government. Overall it might mean they still have to delay their 5G rollout by another 6-18 months. By which time, most of the important region towers could be built by Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung.

The important regions are now USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, as well as, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain. Then there's also Israel, Singapore, South Korea, Japan. Other influential and important countries are Russia, Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil, India, Turkey and the rest of Europe. Also the micronations of Iceland, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Brunei.

It looks very prominent that the lands of China, South East Asia, Central Asia-Indies, Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and even Singapore will be heavily Huawei/China-influenced. And also most of South America and Africa also looks like will bid with Huawei/China infrastructure. Which are markets that overlook 70% of the planet's population, but it isn't the most important/influential markets which I've listed above.

Every government knows countries spy each other anyway. This isn't exclusive to China-US. It's up its government whether to expose it to the public or not, for no reasons other than pure politics. Clearly though, in the end all that matters is simply money.

Why don't people get that Huawei was just a small part of it...the Chinese brand fans where relieved when it was called off, don't need to pretend like it will hurt us more when Huawei's global market will literally die without the deal and c'mon! even damn Apple is far bigger..much more the Government
