Do you honestly believe that those photos were produced from a dedicated camera with quality optics and a huge sensor?

S4 used the former, P8(More precisely, Honor 6 Plus from 2014 was the first device with Night Mode) used latter. P20 Pro was also using the latter but of course the exposure time had been shortened and far more complex calculations had been used in order to align images properly in handheld capture.

You can try it if you still have the Galaxy S4, or the Galaxy mid ranger up till A 2017 the description said it is merging multiple shot. Even though it doesn't improve the image quality by much on flagship, it is imrpoving the mid ranger phone image a lot. I'm talking about seperare Night Mode not a Night Detection

But if your talking about software base stabilization and long exposure, the all new night mode P20 Pro is the first, but in general it is not

Neutral type, 19 Jul 2019Sorry to dissapoint you, but Night mode is present on Galax... moreHilarious. Thats a normal Night scene, which every other brand has on that time.

The specific 'Night Mode' Huawei introduce is a long exposure + image stacking, stabilized using AIS (different naming for advance EIS), handheld with minimal blurry images (except moving object, which is normal if u capture long exposure) for 5 seconds.

The same Night Sight by Pixel, Bright Night by Samsung, Nightscape by Oppo/Oneplus, which is follow Huawei's method.

Hopefully they ate taken from a phone. I downloaded some of the pics and at 1/4th their full resolution, the images are still very respectable for a smartphone.

The last 1 year has seen Huge Improvenents on the Imaging Sensor and Computational Photography algorithm front. Now the new 64MP, 100MP and 108MP sensors should start pushing things even further.

Like a lot of people with DSLRs/Mirrorless, I want to be able to keep my larger cameras at home during personal travels and be able to completely be able to take photos and videos on my smartphone (and have the option of having larger prints if need be, without terrible output). Hopefully these 64-108MP sensors don't disappoint. And I hope the next generations of processors and sensors (and sensor and lens stabilization) are able to use a LOT more frames for details, sharpness, noise control and lowlight.
