The Mi Fit application is from Huami, the maker of the Mi Band, Mi Scale, Amazfit lineup, and so on.
But then, there are other Xiaomi Scales, and maybe wearables.
Thus, Xiaomi wants to integrate everything, and obligate those companies to comply with their terms; instead of staying locked to Huami.
Smart move, but very late...
Poor Huami, though. They pave the way.

Another bloatware like Samsung or Huawei have.
There are tons of simmilar apps in store doing the same thing for free.
This one will only take valuable space and make another waste of app icon on screen.

Good idea. Hope they would develop a good one like the one in Huawei phones. Not only it's very useful, I also see it as a reason to stick to the brand.

Samsung did it with Samsung Health was considered as bloatware.
Huawei did Huawei health and its fine.
Now it Xiaomi's turn
