LG Superfan, 27 Jul 2019They can rebrand Sprint stores to whatever this new company... moreThat question will be answered once we find out pricing and what they'll do to current T-Mobile/Sprint customers. If they decide to not change the pricing on loyal customers, then it's not TOO bad but the new customers are going to see price changes. Inheriting Sprint's debt is not going to come without changes.

Something called Dish is becoming the fourth carrier so competition might be less but there not as much as without Dish
From a consumer POV is the merger good or bad?

LG Superfan, 27 Jul 2019Not from US so can anyone explain me Pros and Cons of mergerPros of this particular merger:

          1. Now this T-Sprint company will have PHENOMENAL bandwidth for LTE connectivity.

          2. Since both brands were working on 5G, it will speed up the process.

          Cons:

          1. Jobs will be lost with Sprint stores going bye bye.

          2. Less competition means that prices are going to go up; no matter what this CEO claims.

          3. GoogleFi might cease to exist. They have been using Sprint and T-Mobile's LTE bands and 2G spectrum for a while but there's no point in it now unless people REALLY like the prices (which... it's not the best price to begin with).

T-Sprint? not a bad name, but once Dish is done with its own network in 7years or so, this merger is slowly gonna die while Dish is gonna take over their 3rd spot after Verizon and AT&T

LG Superfan, 27 Jul 2019Not from US so can anyone explain me Pros and Cons of mergerIn Germany we had a reduction from 4 to 3 carriers due to a merger/takeover: A few years ago, the formerly two smallest carriers (Telefonica/O2 and E-Plus) joined forces to now form the largest mobile operator in Germany (in terms of no. of contracts, ahead of T-Mobile/Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone).
Obvious disadvantage: This has led to decreased competition and thus has the potential for higher prices for consumers. E-Plus and o2 used to bring a lot of innovation and interesting pricing models to the market, similar to what T-Mobile is known for in the US.
Potential advantage: Before the merger, the two companies were financially too limited to build a reliable 4G network that could extend coverage to most of our country. In this regard, there have indeed been gradual improvements, even though their combined 4G network is still quite behind. The same reasoning would be applicable to Sprint and T-Mobile in the US who could now join forces on developing a good 5G network which would benefit their costumers.
In order to reduce the risk of higher prices for consumers, the European and German antitrust-agencies authorities have ruled that the newly formed company (O2/E-Plus) had to allow a new fourth operator to be able to have full access to a certain portion of their infrastructure at regulated prices. This fourth operator (Drillisch, itself later acquired by 1&1's parent company) has indeed helped to preserve some of the competetive dynamic of the market. However, the end result is yet to be seen, especially since the development of 5G networks is still in its earliest stages in Germany.

From Canada with only 3 maj... moreFinland also has only three major carriers and that's why cost has gone up while services have gone down. Few years ago cheapest unlimited 4G was 14,90 euros now it's 24,90 or 29,90 for unlimited everything.

Now when 5G comes i'll bet they raise 4G prices to pay it all.

Despite the optimism regarding Dish can become a cellphone company I'm very skeptical that it can manage as such and, in the end, will sell off all the spectrum as well as the storefronts back to T-Mobile. Jobs will be lost at Sprint as redundant positions will be gone. Eventually the US will be left with 3 carriers--an ogopoly, just like here in Canada. Dish will become like Shaw here; a satellite TV provider that tries to also provide cell service that's so far unable to manage both. Sorry that this is long.

This is really about Japan's (Softbank) competitiveness in the US telecom market. This merger has the most mid term benefits for Softbank and T-mobile's German parent company Deutsche Telekom.
