Huawei already has 5G phones and so does Samsung.
So Apple is late here...
But 5G is just getting rolled out, and it will take time till 2021 in developed countries, and it might not even arrive to some places by 2023.
My country still does not have LTE (or 4G) everywhere. And most carriers only cover large cities with LTE.
So, for someone like me, buying 5G phone in 2019 would just be waste of money. Where Apple generally has issues, since they are not offering nearly enough for their pricing.

Galaxy Note 10 Pro, 29 Jul 2019Mid ranger buyers do not care about the nuances of the tech... moreI'm guessing you probably do not know the differences between the two technologies and that is why you are calling it just 'nuances'. It is very different ala one modem having FDD bands but their operator supports just TDD bands of 4G/LTE. Certain large cities will deploy only mmWave to cater to the humongous traffic in a concentrated area while in more rural areas sub-6 Ghz will be deployed. Unless your phone's modem supports mmWave, you won't be able to get true 5G. Just like many cheap Chinese phones do not have the LTE bands to fully function in several western countries, it will be the same with 5G. Apple's LTE and wifi speeds are slower only because they use Intel modems but having dissolved their legal battle with Qualcomm, they can easily use their expensive modems as well as utilise Qualcomm's patents to develop their own modems after having bought Intel's modem division.
As for the processors, calling it a smoke screen is so ridiculous considering that it is due to their superiority over any other ARM based processors gives them the edge to support their devices for so long (at least 4 years) after they have been released.
From your username, it is clear you hate Apple, but unlike you, some of us are interested in the tech irrespective of the company.

And will iPhones have USB-C one day or never ? Lightning is slower than USB-C for charging and data transfer

BigBonKawk, 29 Jul 2019Those mid-rangers will probably use the sub-6 GHz 5G and no... moreMid ranger buyers do not care about the nuances of the tech...they look at 5G and that's it, they will be ready to pay the same money that they pay for 4G or LTE etc...if Qualcomm doesn't give the tech for affordable prices, too bad, they only will miss the opportunity to make money while consumers move forward with the available 5G tech....as such Apple LTE speed and WiFi speed are sub-par compared to flagships across the board. Their processors seem to out perform others only to create smoke screen from their inferior network tech....

Do you think Qualcomm will sell their expensive modems for cheap to these cheap manufacturers? Besides. mmWave 5G will probably be available in major cities only as it is very expensive for telecom companies to install the required equipments where the user density will be very low.

Yes, you can expect 5G around 2021(November 2020) ......not bad for slow moving train....by the time many mid-rangers will have 5G 1/4 of the price....

sub-6GHz is way more useful than mmWave because it actually have coverage instead of half a city block and outdoors only.
