Vulkan definitely helps and gives better performance than OpenGL for Kirin processors but the ARM industry as a whole still has a way to go before smartphones can emulate Wii U/Switch at 60+ fps.

The 3D score is on par with the Snapdragon 820. lol

With vulkan Mali gpus are comparable to adreno one, and vulkan is not widespread yet,

When you start digging... moreI play Wii games on Dolphin through my Kirin 980 devices (P30) and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess runs very well. Had a couple issues at first but with the right settings I get no crashes and playable 25-30 fps. And this is from the stock Dolphin on the Play store, if I sideloaded a modded version I'm sure I can get even better performance. I can bet the Kirin 970 does well too.

At least would work in long time gaming seasions with flying collour where A12 bionics for example after 12 hours will be dying breath. Same goes for Exynos 9820 for example.
Even Kirin would have oproblems after 12 hours of gaming but at least Kirin 980 supports up to 55W charge and have a special liquid cooling which makes it works pretty well.

When you start digging for emulation, and play lot of games you will know difference between adreno and Mali gpus, Even Samsung Exynos are struggling not just Mediatek and Kirin. Some emulators like ps2 one is designed from scratch by using SD 845 and Adreno GPU.

Useless revelation. Only tell G76 without telling how many cores. Mediatek love to use low numbers of cores and clock it to the moon to get most performance while reduce patent cost but also killing efficiency and generate more heat.

Did you know why cpu/gpu on laptops always has MUCH lower base speed than desktop counterparts? Aside from few tweaks, Every CPU/GPU core got certain high efficiency clock range (ie take 50% power but give 80% performance), optimal clock range (100% power, 100%perf), and maximum clock range (ie 200% power, 120% perf), guess what mtk do?

So is it sitting above or beside the P90 in the lineup?..

I might have missed it but what's the difference between the G90 and G90T?

Also it kind of stinks that it's 12nm. Should've been at max 8; more space for 5G modem, more components, etc.

That dual WiFi acceleration is heavenly it's a feature I really seriously need people don't even understand how amazing that feature is

Mediatek will offer affordable 5G chip sand gaming chips? This will be a great future we live in! :D

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2019no thanks mediacrap...... i´d rather go for a kiri... moreYou've obviously never used a Kirin smartphone if you think they are quite bad. I can guarantee that you wouldn't even know the difference if day-to-day use compared to a Snapdragon. Don't be so ignorantly biased. Even mediatek is well more than enough for regular usage for most people.

They always make great CPU's but fail with making great GPU's.
And they even call it gaming chipset.
When will chipset makers such as MediaTek, Samsung with Exynos, and Huawei with Kirin chipsets realise that the GPU matters too after all.
Qualcomm and Nvidia do the best GPU's in the mobile segment, expect Nvidia stopped. Tegra X1 was a great Chip, and I wish Nvidia can make a comeback.

While these are quite matching my expectations for this chip to actually called 'gaming' SoC, having mammoth A76 CPU and G76 GPU cores fabbed on a 12nm process is quite scary. Expect it to trail behind the 730 (let alone the G version thanks of its higher clocks), and serves as a fallback for OEMs to launch a sub-$300 gaming oriented smartphones but can't afford to insert Qualcomm SoCsl

Meh. A lot of talk about the CPU cores but zero about the number of cores and capability of the GPU. It smells like too much noise for a weak GPU in their segment... Then add propietary drivers without scene support and custom ROMs... A big NO.
