Again Imo the last person a phone buyer sees is probably the sale person, walking into a phone shop you may be confronted with a "sale" item to a phone similar to the one a person wants
Just because some exercise due diligence and research a phone, price may be the motivating final factor, being in a point of sale area, you only get the headline features.
I think the majority of phone owners did not do not research their phones.
Parents finance a Childs phone
Phone purchases are s trade off e.g. can this phone at $10 per month cheaper get me the majority of features for a different make.
If a network phone shop doesn't support the model of phone you want, you won't walk out of the shop with it

And for sure my phone is bloated with apps & heavy user than your mom. Maybe your mom doesnt feel the Galaxy S5 slowdown lol, but i definitely will see it, even just after a week of format. And there are various of reports Samsung slowdown its phones after updates (especially TouchWiz era).

Yet, my mom is still using the Galaxy S5 without any lags or issues and you don't see me talking about S5 being better than Mate20 Pro...
It comes down to how you use and/or maintain the phone. Everyone else on here was able to figure that out by now.

Now we both rocking Mate 20, will switch to Mate 40 next.

Even Oppo Vivo and Honor will skipps over apple in near future.
