18 February, 2012
This is the result of the class-action lawsuit against Apple, which it evidently lost.

chupoltorero, 20 Feb 2012if that is the case then why apple did not sue US network p... moreWho knows how people think in the USA sometimes. They are in a world of their own. All I know is in the regions I live and travel in, SE Asia and North Asia, I have not had anyone complain about iPhone reception issues. In Australia where I come from, the iPhone for better or for worse, sells like hot cakes. I prefer a keyboard, so personally not keen on touch screens, however it is an individual choice what to purchase. However, for me, reception is certainly far more important than a sexy interface.

No signal drop noticed here in Pakistan among all my Apple user group.

How come I don't have this problem with my Nokia even with a weak signal? Whereas most other users do not care or are ignorant towards the subpar phone call reliability, and are satisfied with the other features like the large range of apps available, which explains their popularity. Reliable connectivity should be just as important as the other functions, after all it is called an Iphone not Ipod.

In Australia, the iPhone was rated the best for reception by the highly regarded and independent Choice Magazine. That was the iPhone 4 and not the 4S. Most people are of the view the reception problem is more to due with the crappy USA networks. I dont have an iPhone (use a Blackberry) but all my friends that have an iPhone, not one have said they have a reception problem. Typical USA lawyers looking for extra fees.

"many" not 'most' - don't put your words in my mouth.

The anti-brigade will exaggerate it as loudly as they can, but even they know it's plain not as bad as they claim; not remotely. Regardless, for a large and growing number of people 'mobiles' are personal computing, gaming, messaging, and internet devices - 'phone' is a minor function. Why do we need GHz+ quad core HD SAMOLED LTE blah in a phone? Oh yeah, because it's so much more than that.

                    -from news

if you read the news...it says WHERE "CERTAIN" users
Means not all, if this don't happen to your iphone, then your not included on that "CERTAIN USERS".

but the fact that it reached this point, those "CERTAIN USERS" is possibly a lot.

No, most phones do not attenuate significantly, even if they do, for example Nokias are much better at holding onto a call with a weak signal and audio is superb. Why do you buy a mobile when you can't make reliable calls?

Iphone 3gs has a simlar issue. I noticed on the speed test app, the data speed would significantly drop if you hold it the way you hold the iphone 4. I wonder what other iphones have that issue

1- Apple do lose a lot of court cases.. they just make sure people know about the ones they win
2- You don't see a decrease on the 'network signal' icon (afterall what is displayed there is apples code...) but all independent tests have phsycally measured a drop in signal. And since I switched to a Galaxy XII the signal has been perfect and the net a lot faster.
3- despite all of this the iPhone is still my second favorite phone and if you are in high reception areas you will never notice the drop and with the latest software updates even most of the flash sites work.
