I run a phone shop and if you werent lucky even a 1000+ bucks device can die in few hours i saw that.
Its just missfortune but it can happens.
And for a water damage no IP resistance no brand gives you warranty to water damage.
Not here in Slovakia but i cant say same in other countries because i am lack of knowledge about this.

But I tottally agree that no matter what you buy - you could get a faulty device.

IP68 is there to protect your... moreMan i would agree with everything else but IP68 is still gimmick. As long as your warranty wont cover water damage having or not having IP68 is just matter of money. Because this gimmick adds to the final price. But you cant blame your IP resistance if water damage occurs. For that sake people rather pay insurance with their phones so they are covered from water damage as well as other accidents.
Even if it's OK - it won't be in a year or so. Flagship will definitley serve you for longer time.
Man my Lenovo Vibeshot is now 4 years old and we speak about midranger which at that time in summer 2015 cost me 372 euros. After 4 years phone looks as a brand new. Only i have to swap was battery i am a heavy gamer and when i am not in work or on this site i will probably play some games on phone or be with my girlfriend.
So apart from battery the whole phone looks like just bought from store. Few smudges on screen and thats it.
I run a phone shop and even phones like Xiaomi redmi 4A which cost around 100 bucks and now are really old still suits many my customers like any other basic phone like Huawei Y5 or so.
But i tell you a story before my Lenovo and Motorola and before my huawei which i had before Lenovo Vibeshot and accidentaly drowned it in toilet and phone died i had a Sony flagship phone which cost me 500 euros. Had it for 2 years.
And from those 2 years the phone went under repair like 20 times. It was that kind of phone which had touch screen and sliding keyboard as well.
Either the touch screen frozen or the keyboard refuses to work and when both work the phone unexpectedly turned off at free any time a day any hour and sometimes it took me several attempts to run it again.
So it was a failure device for which i paid exactly 499 euros.
What i want to say???
If you have a bad luck even a flagshhip grade device would last less than a most basic phone with pricetag under 100.
Another case is i had a customer with Sony Z5 premium i remember his issue exactly he said he did 2 photos in a childs pool you have to blow with oxygen to take a picture of his two baby childrens . 2 Photos underwater and the phone completely died and coroded.
There was no way to fix it and the internal memory crashed and all his memories photos and everything else was gone.
Galaxy fold is simillar issue if you have a bad luck your phone just dies and you can do nothing just feel sad.
End of my story.

IP68 is there to protect your phone, if nothing else it gives you peace of mind in case of eventual accidents.
As far as office and administration work and working st several apps st the same fime - try to do it and tell me how it goes.

As long as its not cause of death everybody can wait few minutes.
IP68 is nothing just overpriced gimmick.
Had Lenovo Vibeshot before have Motorola phone now and even if i use it soaking in bath tub with wet hands the phone is working very well.
Unless i dont put it underwater the phone is great.
After many years had no water damage.
And i dont believe on acidents. People are either clumsy or or did not pay attention to surroundings like starring at the skyes for incomking rain and looking after shelter before it starts raining.
On the other hand most games consunme more pwoer of the phone than office work so i dont believe any midranger would slow down on kind of job you do.
But thats another my opinion.

Even small kids know to not use phone durring r... moreI know how IP68 works. And I'm talking about case when I got literally soaking wet by unexpected storm. It won't happen every day, but when it does it can save you lots od money. Also if you sometimes keep your phone in your bathroom while taking a shower... moisture can and will seep in and damage will occur with time. Also with IP68 you can answer the call even if you're under shower which is pretty neat. And it did save me lots of time and trouble on 2 occassions already.
As for gaming phones... they usually come with big pricetags. And I don't really abuse my phone that much to need heatsink in it. I'm not gaming at all, so there's no need for a phone deisgned for hours long gaming sessions.
So I'll take my better camera and IP68 over heatpipe any day.
People are different tho, and have different needs so I totally understand if you would make different choice.
Also, I've seen performance of midrange phones in PowerPoint and Excel. Good part of my coworkers has bought flagships. Difference is noticeable. Especially when you use Power Point, our company Market Communication app, and also need to open an email to draw data for that PPT or Excel.
Those moments happen sometimes and it takes me just few minutes to make those tweaks on my phone, but with midrange smartphone everything takes more time to load, it is not working so smooth and sometimes the apps can throw some kind of Error on you...

Any book case should do.
And any phone can whitstand few drops of water.
Like before i had my Lenovo vibeshot.
And your cool feature works only against a clean unrefined water.
Try it in swimming pool with chloride water or in sea and you kill your phone.
So your cool feature have no use to me and most other people which have o pay for it.
By the way waterproof case cost like 2-5 euros on wish or alliexpress site.
The rest you said i clearly understand and yes yu cant put laptop into a pocket but you can carry it in case.
And i dont believe a good midranger cant run powerpoint for what you needs it.
But thats my opinion.
Flagship phone or gaming phone its same apart the heating pipe and maybe a bit worse camera on a phone but the rest is even. Gaming phones have bigger batteries and usualy faster charging options.

Gaming phones are a gimmick in my eyes.
And IP rating is definitley a cool feature because water does happen. And when it does - it can cost you ton of money straight away. Example - unexpected rain.
I mainly use my S10e to put some changes in powerpoint presentations, excel tables and to send email reports, often with photos I took right before sending. So that is why I need a phone with some power to it (powerpoint will be slow on midrangers). And I also want a small form factor, making S10e perfect phone to me. No edge display is also additional bonus for me, it's way easier to put glass screen protector 😊

I have my Moto X4 also using t for gaming and it preforms very well.
Your S10 can also be sued for gaming because it can run anything,
All gaming phones are like flagship phone best CPU ram and battery. There is no difference apart the heating pipe.
And IP rating??? For what sake??? Who swim with his phone???
Its a useless overpriced feature.
The S-Pen is fine to have but for basic stuff like sending messages, ccallig a friends or brownsing internet or facebook its get in way thus is not very usefull.
And for price of 1200 anyone can buy a decent laptop. And if he is clever he can buy for 1200 decent laptop and phone as well.

Note10 and Black Shark 2 Pro are 2 different phones targeting different audiences. I's like comparing apples to oranges...
One is gaming phone, other one is phone for business people. And average user like me needs none of the 2, I'm more than happy with S10€ I got for 450 Euros.
