Lenovo Z6 Pro in for review

12 August 2019
Five cameras, Snapdragon 855 and a decent sized battery make this device a compelling offer.

Mh, 14 Aug 2019What is the difference between Chinese version and Global v... moreWell first of all I don't think that an "original Global ROM" actually exists (released by Lenovo that is). So the first problem with Global ROM is that it's not frequently updated. On the other hand the Global is pretty much stock so it works better (for instance Chinese ROM has problems with app notifications). You can find more details by googling for the Lenovo Community but I personally prefer Chinese ROM for now.
Cheers!

My two cents about Lenovo Z6 Pro (which I own from a couple of month):
        - very good performance (360K Antutu with the Chinese ROM, 270K with Global).
        - very nice screen quality.
        - very good sound quality (headsets).
        - very good and versatile camera: yes it has Samsung sensor but Samsung is innovating in phone sensors for a long time. The point is that the optics are good and the post-processing is very nice so the results are accordingly. It actually can capture more details than my P20 Pro and with Google camera apk it can capture impressive Night sight photos.
        - good OIS on the dedicated video camera (max 1080p) and some really impressive night time videos with this camera (I think it can take on P30 Pro). So pretty please Gsmarena test this camera too, at least until the ZUI 11.1 will bring EIS to the main camera.
        - SD-card support, FM radio, and one of my favorite features: a flat (non curved) screen :D
        - no NFC (which I personally barely use but it's nice to have I admit);
        - no IR, no 5G (a 5G version was announced but not released yet)
So for me Z6 Pro was the only 'flagship killer' this year that had all the features I was searching for (well almost, NFC would have been nice).

Anders, 12 Aug 2019I think it has NFC. I hope so anywayNo, it doesn't have NFC. It's not on the Specs page of Lenovo and all the reviews say it doesn't have NFC.

However, Reno 10x Zoom's launch price tag of CNY 4800 (256/8 GB) is approx. USD 685-690 at current exchange rate.
The lack of discount or price cut, when the competitions have started to give them, is a bummer, though.

The V-shaped notch is the best notch design, I wish more smartphones had it. I'd rather have that or slim top bezels instead of what we have now. All these weird looking smartphones are laughable and embarrassing.

I have one, it is definitely not a "flagship killer". I tried to get the OnePlus 3 as a legitimate "flagship killer" but it didn't have many of the radiowaves/bands needed for my carrier/country.

I think people are confused about what a "flagship killer" is. It's basically a Mid-range phone, but it is slightly more expensive and has a better screen/processor. It lacks either a Removable Battery or Water resistance, and other niceties (for instance, Wireless Charging or NFC or all the LTE bands etc etc).

Pls why does the software look like Android One?

I guess most people does because, Xiaomi changed the shape of the Mi 9's notch via software, it was U shaped when the phone was announced.

Are there any news about the availability of this great phone outside China and Bulgaria? I would buy it immediately because of its cheap price compared to its characteristics, and as someone outlined it is one of a few phones that feature a micro sd slot in this category.

                                  - Only that those CN-versions support LTE B20 (must have in EU)
but no more, not even the widely used global LTE Band 28!
(that is supported even by cheap Xiaomi phones!)
                                  - 3G, WCDMA support as poor as well.

                                  - only 4000mAh battery for a big DP,
                                  - no notification light

I don't like the design of the waterdrop notch, I prefer the one that's on the 6T. And why doesn't it have an NFC chip?

LLL, 12 Aug 2019How about the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom in China? Both the 128/6GB... moreThat's also not a Luxury / Flagship phone. It's a Upper-Midrange or High-end phone.
But it was quite expensive when I checked because "Realme" wasn't released very long. Though from my understanding there hasn't been much Special/Discounts on it and it doesn't look like they're going to drop the prices soon or by much.

I think the 6GB/128GB model, which seems to be the more desirable one, was going for around USD $550. The 8GB/256GB model was going for an eye-watering +$750... which really is a rip-off. Might as well get a Samsung S10/e/Plus at those prices.

For some reason, I saw less and less people with Xiaomi phones. They're no longer as prideful or desirable or cult-following as before.... most locals wanted to use either an iPhone (6 - 8 Plus), otherwise they preferred Huawei/Honor or an Oppo/Vivo instead. It was sad to see very little in terms of ASUS, Lenovo, Motorola, ZTE, and Meizu devices. While I understand why "abroad phones" (Sony, LG, HTC, Nokia, Pixel) have little marketshare, ehm price, it was baffling to see the popularity of Samsung and Apple still widespread in China.
