            A million dollars is a drop in the ocean compared to the value of these exploits. "Security" firms are trading them for tens or hundreds times that, to shady organisations and governments.

                  Apple realized that security was what made some people pay more to get their products, and latley they had some security issues, so they want to make sure this does't happen again. Which is a good move from their side. They have high price tags, and they have to justify it by something other than being well integratd in ecosystem, because each part of their system is expensive.
                  Apple has been losing customers latley and they know it...
