LG patents a three-piece, two-display foldable screen phone design with no ports

I was wondering when we'd see a Z-Fold design. I certainly dig this concept, but i'm not impressed with LG's execution here (even as a patent). It should be a single seamless display with 2 folds, so that there's no obtrusive bezel in-between. When executed right, such a folding phone would turn out a wonderful multimedia device.

This is a great great idea for a foldable phone LG
and the part where you use this as a phone, can be glass and not plastic since it won't fold
i wish you can just hide the phone part when used in tablet mode since it looks weird to have two separate screens

LG should be trying to improve their updates to their existing phones instead of coming out with these wacky ideas.

...the more folds, the more areas of weakness.
So while people might be lucky enough tolerate a single-folding device like a Huawei Mate Fold, they aren't ready for something crazier than that because it will not be upto the rigorous challenges of everyday torture (physical, vibration, temperature, moisture, oil/contamination, magnetism etc etc).
I think almost all people rather have a sturdy phone, has no moving parts, would last a long time, and is very compact. This would likely be a Flat phone protected with a Tempered Glass Protector, Sides and Chassis made from Aluminium (or better), and a non-fragile backplate. And to have it last a long time, it would probably use a great IPS display, with a Removable Battery, Modular components (ports/buttons/screen etc etc), Unlocked Bootloader and AndroidOne. To keep it compact, it would probably be a 16:9 screen, with Slim Bezels that holds all the sensors, cameras, and front-firing stereo loudspeakers. Just because the phone might look like something from 2015 doesn't mean it needs to have outdated hardware specifications.

Another example of how ridiculous the patent system is...
