Anonymous, 19 Aug 2019Exynos galaxy s8 could go up to 4K 120No it can't, I have one in my hand

      Better late than never...

Tomwafc1864, 19 Aug 2019Totally agree, the speaker intergrated with the USB-C port ... moreI agree. Samsung makes well rounded phones. Huawei focused only on photography...

someone, 19 Aug 2019wow !!!!! ... huawei finally catching up ..i thought mate 3... moreI can modify that comment into "Competitors should finally catch up to Huawei's top-notch low-light photographic abilities, and their excellent zoom, and their brilliant battery life, etc". You see, there is no perfect phone out there. They all have their ups & downs.

Also, your comment about the dynamic range is a straight up wrong. Huawei has one of the best dynamic range on their phones since a few years. You rarely even have to turn on HDR manually. Kindly stop spreading BS.

Storage have to increase 100x couple TB in the phone or are Huawei just stupid

BigDisplay, 19 Aug 2019Nice... But finally.Indeed. Kinda happy Huawei is now taking measures to making video recording better with the Cine Lens and now this.

                    Nice... But finally.

Tomwafc1864, 19 Aug 2019Totally agree, the speaker intergrated with the USB-C port ... moreWhy are you bringing up the speaker integrated in the charging port on Mate 20 Pro even though Huawei clearly acknowledged that it was a mistake and went back to the conventional down-firing speaker on P30 series? Also, why do you think OnePlus will be on the same level when Mate 30 Pro will feature better cameras, battery life, charging speed and CPU performance, more complete set of features (expandable storage, proper IP rating and fast wireless charging) and the same 90Hz OLED display? With Note 10+ being a fairly incremental upgrade over S10+, the gap between Samsung's and Huawei's flagships will be closer than ever in terms of overall quality. OnePlus 7 Pro's only weapon against proper high end smartphones like Note 10+ and Mate 30 Pro is its price, and probably the clean UI design, but nothing else really.

Finally, regarding the SoC performance, Huawei and Apple naturally have an advantage over other Android manufacturers in the second half of the year due to the different release cycle from Qualcomm and Samsung. This basically means that Huawei usually loses that advantage in the next year, but we're talking about Mate 30 Pro now, not P40 Pro, so the advantage is an advantage as for now.

So late for a flagship chip

Kirin SoCs even the flagship ones always have embarrasingly lacking capabilities when it comes to video support. Kirin 950 only supports up to 1080p60 for recording while the ancient Snapdragon 800, Mediatek MT6595 and even a midrange Helio P20 can do 4k30. Kirin 970 struggles to decode 1440p60 on Youtube VP9 while Snapdragon 625 runs it smoothly. Unsurprisingly, Kirin 980 isn't supporting 4k60. They seriously need to up their game and not play catch up. Aside from that, their performance is (about) on par with the others.

Tomwafc1864, 19 Aug 2019Totally agree, the speaker intergrated with the USB-C port ... moreHmm seems like you hate rational thinking

by your logic apple's chips only get better because they wait a year/few months after qualcomm and the same goes for features in the note 10 i guess Samsung waits and every other manufacturer

even you haven't read the mate series is getting a 90hz screen as well

How is it that you've conveniently omitted things that Huawei will outdo others:

                            25w wireless charging
                            low light photography
                            Twin big "Main" camera Sensors
                            5x Optical zoom

Nick Tagataka, 19 Aug 2019Ha, they'd better do that otherwise I'll seriously get disa... more4K60 needs better lighting than 4K30 to keep quality.
All the phones tested here have 1080p60 worse than 1080p30.
                              Also EIS gets weaker.
                              OIS is useless for video.

By the way, movies are 24fps. Don't know why only Apple and sony offer 24fps

When a phone has 4000 mAh and 50% less pixels to push, it has the obligation to score at least 100h on gsma test.
