DLLM, 21 Aug 2019No, it’s not the same. iPhone buyers like to feel different... moresame again, you mentioned apple as supposed luxury high end brand, yet you have failed to state any luxury attributes within the manufacturer of apple products, samsung are actually not too dissimilar to apple, both uses gorilla glass and machined pressed aluminium, neither uses machine milled aluminium, neither uses copper shielding within their products.

But, I agree that they could have bigger sales if they kept the jack.

Out of Control, 20 Aug 2019Your comment doesn't explain why twice as many people have ... moreI think the preorder numbers are implausible, SK has 50M people, and according to this over 2% of their whole population *preordered* these two phones of the same series and generation alone.
First think what percentage of the population uses a smartphone? Say 80%? High enough? Then among these what percentage is in the market for a smartphone right this month? How about a third of that? That's a very generous estimate amounting to everybody upgrading every three years and everybody upgrading this year wants to buy this month. That's 26%. Now how many could afford two of the most expensive (non-luxury) smartphones on the market? SK's median family (of 4) income was $46,800 in 2016, now probably slightly but insignificantly higher. I don't think a family earning $46,800 a year to be split between 4 people is in anywhere near a position to be buying $1000 smartphones, so 50% of the population is entirely out of the question, down to 13%. Another generous estimate, half of the people with family income north of the median could actually afford this, that's 6.5%.
Now all this says is 6.5% of the SK population could afford, and is willing to buy a $1000 smartphone, right now. So the 1.3M preorders would say that not only would 40% of those people buy the Note10 duo, they bought it blindly by preordering.
So how much would these models sell ultimately? What about the S10 models which by now are cheaper with matching or sometimes even higher specs? Even Apple has a 27% share of the SK market and most of its models are competing in this segment.

Great so they downgraded things and hold back a lot of tech just to greedily use it later... and still charge crazy prices. And people double the pre order number just cause of the minimal bezels...

I currently have S10e and it has a headphone jack, and I guess by the time I'll need another upgrade, there will be lots of alternatives for fair prices because no headphone jack will be the norm.

Samsung buyers buy Samsung flagships because they like Samsung more than other android oems flagships. Love the Community, 20 Aug 2019What the hell were they thinking? Aren't they supposed to v... moreThe iPhone is a "total social climbing tool," not the Note10 series. Samsung gives you your money's worth thanks to its great hardware specs and software features. The headphone jack is gone but it's not that big of a deal because of the rest of the specs. The Note10+ is the best Note smartphone to date but I like the Note10 too because of the smaller screen, my only complaint is its lower resolution. It's worth mentioning the 5G model of the Note10 has an extra 4GB of RAM. If you're worried about the prices of the new models then wait a few months for them to drop.

Knighfury, 20 Aug 2019General public don't care about headphone jack..That is about right, the vast majority of buyers do not consider the 3.5 mm jack to be absolutely important when choosing a device, just a small portion of the entire market complain about it, an then, the complainning ones gather in places like this, as they tend to be very interested in these topics, I really hate not having a headphone jack in future devices, but almost everybody I know do not give it much thought, and as much as I like the 3.5mm jack, I will accept that it is fading away, as phisical keyboards, capacitive navigation buttons, clamshell designs, flat screens, notification leds, removable batteries, sim cards, ir blasters, etc
