Xiaomi & Redmi phones are hugely popular in war torn countries like Russia, Ukraine, Romania & similar communist countries. So like i said, finish school & focus on some Geography lessons too as these countries are Eastern European not Western! You guys have a lot of catching up to do. So good luck in buying a cheap crappy budget phone.

              That much is clear.

Having metal backed phones where it is actually possible to remove the back without a heatgun and and a sharp blade makes it easy to repair. My Mi Max fell into that category and should I at some point have needed to replace such as battery would be easy and require no special tools or me going to a service center. Still, that phone with its massive battery still has great battery health.

Using large amount of adhesive under the pretense of waterproofing, as opposed to using rubber seals and gaskets - but still not covering water damage on warranty - is nothing other than planned obsolescence. And the smaller the irremovable battery is, then the faster the phone will become useless due to number of charge cycles.

As CNBC noted, Xiaomi and Huawei’s European shipments increased 62 percent and 52 percent, respectively, in the most recent quarter, while Apple’s and Samsung’s shipments both fell in that same period.

I'm not an Apple fan, far from it, never said that all their phones are weak, they do make rigid products, but some are very weak.

Recent Xiaomi flagships have passed his tests and have done well (mainly because Xiaomi usually do well without metal or plastic). Xiaomi seem to forget their non-removable metal backs are supposed to be holding the phone well, but they're easily to seperate, this still occurs in their latest phones, causing them to bend and break easier than they should, it's an easy fix that Xiaomi should take note of.

To conclude, I don't hate Xiaomi, I've never used their products (almost was going to pick a Redmi Note 4). Their Mi Mix 3 is my favourite so far. They just need to fix the issues with their metal phones. The Redmi 3 Pro barely survived but could have been decent if the back cover wasn't so easy to seperate. This Indian guy burned himself because of his Note 4, you can't fully trust any brand to be honest.

CharlieLondon, 20 Aug 2019I am from the UK and I have to say one thing that is wrong ... moreXiaomi changed the Mi 9's OLED panel from dimming by PWM to DC in April, and the older Mi 8 got it in May. So no causing headaches for those prone to it.

Huawei followed Xiaomi and did the same on their most recent OLED phones this summer.

Honor 9 received Pie about 3 months after Mi 8.

Mi 8 is also on the July security patch.

Recent Xiaomi phones has passed these same tests, and in all honesty these test are quite brutal and nowhere near accounts for normal use for most people.

I replaced my Mi Max after about 2.5 years due to wanting something new. It's still fully functional despite its many encounters with concrete and tiles as I have dropped it a couple of times. My current Mi Mix 3 is solid, as is my wife's Mi A2 and our son's old Redmi Note 4. The phones have all experienced drops and being sat on. No worries, all working fine :-)

smartphones are consumers goods and i am changing them every two years. I am not planning to spend $1000 every two years on a phone, this is nonsense!
not to mention if i crash the screen in this two years... so, i am using cheaper brands including Xiaomi, so even if i brake it, i dont feel sorry but just buy a new one.

You better pray your $1000 phone last you 5 years or longer!
