I think 2-3 phones per year should be more than enough this is just too much to fill the landfills like Sudokwon etc.

A crash is coming in which many manufacturers will go bust. Companies are not studying peoples usage patterns. Just focusing on what competitors are doing. As a result the average product life cycle has dropped from years to a few months and now to a few weeks.

I dont think there is anyone here who buys a new phone and upgrades it within 2-3 months unless he has serious issues with the phone he is using or the new model which has just been launch is compelling enough. The average upgrade time would be a year or couple of years.

So knowing this manufacturers can launch phones once or twice a year instead of a model every 2-3 weeks which is sheer nonsense. As a result products are clashing with each other even within a single manufacturer on prices and specifications and also leading to huge inventories.

Aldwin360, 28 Aug 2019Not true for samsung.....It’s true for Samsung too and that’s why S10 is selling badly

I honestly are not surprised and kinda happy to see this.
Manufactures are running out of ideas, and are putting ward into medias just to create the illusion that their new phones are so good, while in fact, most of them have poor battery life and won't last long due to either hardware and/or software lifespan. Like how is curve screen a 'feature when it just introduce accidental touch, and most ppl really don't care about those little improvement of the camera.
The market is finally cooling off, and start to realize the difference between what they need and what manufactures tells them what they need.

Smartphones became very expensive for the average Joe. Just the rich now have the capability of buying flagship smartphones.
Even guys who make $ 3,000 per month wouldn't be able to sacrifice 1,000 on a smartphone. In the coming years you need to have a salary of at least $4,000 to be able to afford a flagship comfortably.

Compare these with other consulting firms to see how big the differences are for some OEMs.

Anonymous, 28 Aug 20192020 will be way better I couldn't agree more!

Smartphone prices are shooting up so fastly. High end phones are only camera scentric, camera wars among manufacturers. Same features in all phones. Most of the people cannot afford even a mid range phone because of very high prices now a days. Prices must be decreased by 50% of all phones...only then the industry will flourish.

Not at all surprising! Hardly any noticeable improvement both in hardware and software year on year. Poor specifications and pre-installed bloatware along with $1200+ price tag, various sizes and shapes of notch or gimmicks like pop-up / rotating camera. Hundreds of phones launching almost every month with similar specifications and prices. No software support (Security updates and OS updates) and technical support from many OEMs. Nobody changes phone every year anymore.

People are bored and fatigued with too many smartphone launches. Most of them have similar form factors and features.

Manufacturers need to rework their product lines to reduce number of series and launches per year. Allow real innovation to come instead of just gimmics like pop up or shark fin cameras.
