Sony Xperia 1 gets disappointing DxOMark score for both front and back cameras

Keep in mind, when XZP came out, they tanked the score because it didn't have a zoom lense. Oddly enough, the S8 and G6 weren't affected by this new scoring system. Zoom and Bokeh were new traits to grade under. Let's not forget, even when they establish scores for each camera trait. The way they arrive at a final score is not an average of those numbers. It's a "proprietary" system. Do the math. This is bribery based. It's not a secret. They just call it "consulting."
I like reviewing their in depth analysis. There is value there. They did real testing. GSMArena does good testing too. I'm sure the camera has it's weaknesses. They were just exaggerated to dissuade anybody from thinking that Sony phones are worth purchasing over the new iPhone or Galaxy or whatever brand is throwing money at DxO or buying advertising.
MKBHD has a good video about who/what DxOmark is and why you should take their ratings with a grain of salt. GSMArena needs to pump out fluff paraphrasing articles like this to keep the site alive. It's their obligation - as a mobile tech news site.

Dxomark It is a marketing website where brands pay money so that in the presentation week dxomark says that it is the best camera. Sony and LG do not pay and dxomark blackmails them with bad grades so they pay well

they used Z5 stats for their XZ premium review.
they skipped the XZ2 premium
they took 2 years to test the Z5
and the Z3 was silly also

Calm down Sony boys. DxO test protocols are base on the phone default settings, which is to be blame on the DxO side.
- Superior Auto - No HDR, low dynamic range than others
- Video recording - No HDR capabilities tested, let alone the Cinema Pro App.
The oversharpening creating halos edges is true, but at least give higher score on their best part which is details preservation (texture) & excellent Autofocus. Even i think Xperia 1 score should be 100+ mark. But at 91? Its the same score as freaking Pocophone F1. Go home DxO, you're drunk.

At least, Xperia 1 Camera performance has been much better than its predecessor and par with XZ2P. Sure, still not Pixel level, but hey, if it's par with the competition, I'm over it. And yeah, even they scored 100+ for Xperia in the future, already lost hope for DXOMark, considering how sacrilegious they scored the 808 PureView...

I really don't get it. They have the top enthusiast compact P&S camera (RX100 series) Top FF mirrorless system (A7 series) competitive APSC (A6++ series), they produce sensors for the competition, and they have the clout with Zeiss. The cams on their phones shouldn't be struggling like this. Sony should have dominated a long time ago and dethroned Huawei and Samsung.

I never trust image benchmark like dxomark, I trust my own eyes. After seeing the supersaf comparison with s10+ I agree there are still more improvement to make for Sony in software processing. But overall results are still great.

I've read from many comments that auto mode sucks, because not even HDR is enabled automatically in auto mode.
While Pro Mode delivers decent pictures.

Generally liked camera outcome but for my taste, a bit too oversharpened. And you can't shoot RAWs. Those 2 things besides, fine phone and fine camera. My wife has it now, so it's not gone from the house.

As Xperia 1 owner, I somehow agree with the scores.
Although SONY camera sensors are top-notch, unfortunately the company doesn't focus on the camera software. The reason is the company has its own compact camera division and if they improve their phone camera quality, it might hurt its compact camera sales.
