Marco M, 29 Aug 2019Aren't they? How many people couldn't easily afford this... moreDude well explained, agree with the divide per year thing.
That calculation is exactly what Im doin with my already affordable nikon d3300 paired with yet another affordable 50mm f1.8
The pictures kick ass and no flagship cameras can even come close with all the rage of pathetic fake bokeh onboard nowadays.

As my previous comment, imo usually these price range is still considered expensive by most of people, especially who don't know the glory of apsc sensor can deliver with the right lens

NL, 29 Aug 2019"Wow these cameras are so cheap." Says no one ever.Aren't they?

How many people couldn't easily afford this by skipping to buy a new phone this year, and instead wait until next year or the year after?

It's a small price to pay, especially if you have kids, and want those wonderful shots and videos of your kids and your family at any occasion. Night shot on smart phones is great . . . for stationary objects, but pointless for kids. Large sensors and fast lenses on the other hand, easily helps you take great shots of fast moving objects even when the sun sets.

And the camera will continue to help you take great photos even after the next one comes out, and the next one etc. I still have the "age old" A6000 (2014), and I've had it for many years, so the total cost divided per years is really rather low.

In a review in tom's guide this June (2019), this five year old camera got 4.5 out of 5 stars. That's saying something.

I am waiting to see the performance of new Canon M6 II compared a6100 & a6400 as price is so similar. Canon has cheaper EF lenses, and they perfectly work with EF to EF-M adapter.

Shui8, 29 Aug 2019For the same price, better get the a6400 over a6100. And it... moreA6400 will maintain its price for quite a while because it is already $500 cheaper than A6600 and only $150 more expensive than A6100. Sony will have to maintain the current price gaps.

For the same price, better get the a6400 over a6100. And it will be cheaper sooner.

"Wow these cameras are so cheap."
                  Says no one ever.

With that price, I guess the result of the still/images & Videos are better than expected...

Both look good but to be honest the price is quite high... Specially for the A6600 and the video capabilities are not that different of the A6500, for the same price i can get the Canon RP a mirroless FF or the superior Fujifilm X-T3. I think Sony missed the opportunity to offer good and affordable APS-C models.
