Snapdragon chips were better even before mediatek gots strong just look for 625 and 636, beats 6 chips p20, p22, p25, p30 and p35 and not for low margin, thanks to Xiaomi we can get those chips at the same price that mediatek varians.

The flagships which my sister own can go to the beach, have a light dip without much issue or case.

My old Redmi Note 3 is fine and survive occasional rain and picture taking during rain (job related thing) but later water damage creep into the earpiece speaker and usb plug. Two places which will be more waterproofed in IP-something phones.

I really want this phone to come out globally. My parents won't get me anything too expensive so I have to go with xiaomi if I want to game. Pretty sure this one will run fortnite mobile pretty well. This one is perfect but I don't want to deal with problems involving Chinese ROM.

Xiaomi are banned from selling Mediatek powered devices in India, so the Indian version will come with Snapdragon 712/710.

Keep going mediatek hopefully you can get a comeback like amd

Interestingly Snapdragon can only become it's best if mediatek processors get better because of competition

r31ya, 04 Sep 2019In market for new phone, Currently waiting for Redmi Note ... moreIP rating and MIL-STD are just marketing gimmick.
Any rubber case and waterproof case do same thing for 2 euros.
Nobody will pay 100 more bucks for a high end midranger for a price of low end midranger from samsung or sony brand.

Warranty wont cover your water damage also no drops damage so whether you have IP and MIL-STD or not it doesnt matter. You pay extra money for your phone but wont give you extra warranty these things are costly and useless.

8 weeks sounds quite much, I've seen rumors global launch won't be so far away. Hopefully latter is rather true (if there's gonna be Pro's global version available). Either way until then folks in China buy it, test it, bring info about heating, updates, make reviews etc. and let us know about it.

Of course the mtk chipset will sell in China, because they din't care about custom rom on yheir phones because hey cam't do that with their phones. They stick with heir chinese MIUI.

That Helio 90T is built on an old obsolete 12 nm proces that uses a lot more power, and heats up. So it really needs the 4500 mah battery in the Note 8 Pro..
