Honor 20S goes official: a more affordable Kirin 810-powered version of the Honor 20

04 September 2019
The quad camera also loses its least important member - the depth sensor, but the drop in price is significant.

THIS, SO MUCH THIS! Someone make a totally sensible comment here. Thank you for proving my point!

Some people also prefer to play in FLAC format which Spotify doesn't use. It might be the era of the internet but that is not an excuse to exclude useful features such as the headphone jack or the microSD slot. Its awesome to have extra storage. Not just on phones but on laptops to. You could just eject the SD and put it in the slot in your laptop without having to load anything online and start transferring.

You should try to use the Spotify app. Easier to migrate from phone to phone with all your music merely saved as playlist. No downloading music whatsoever.

Stopped using microSD's long time ago,I... moreI agree it is a shamless ripoff when OEMs charge a hefty premium for essentially 64gb more of storage (the price most likely has to do with the fact that its UFS) but since the SD slot is dying a slow and painful death, you will be limited in options as trends move on. In a few years from now, we'll be lucky to see even 1 phone with an sd card slot. Hopefully by then 1TB storage phones are the norm so people won't worry as much.

So its like the 5T but instead of getting the kirin 980 you get the 3.5m jack.

Stopped using microSD's long time ago,I don't need additional capacity..as you said I upload my photos on Google cloud(Android One) and it's safe and quick access.128 GB internal storage is more than enough,as you said UFS 3.0 or 3.1 are helluva lot faster than old eMMC's..But,as the other guy said,a good quality microSD can be found for $17-18(SanDisk ultra,Samsung Evo+,in 128GB).If you need 128GB instead 64 on your iPhone you'll need to pay additional $150(!!),at least in my country. That's a shameless ripp-off!In that case,I'll vote for microSD's..

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2019I still can't understand why companies refuse to add expand... moreYou are very correct. I have saved music on my SD card over the years. I rarely use internal storage. It's easy to migrate to a new phone with your music. I only use internal storage for apps and 32GB of internal storage is fine for most people. For very important things I store on online storage.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2019I still can't understand why companies refuse to add expand... moreWell you are a very specific use case that doesn't reflect the market. Is it that really that hard to understand why people don't use microSD anymore? It's slower than UFS 2.1 (let alone the newer 3.0), usually requires removing the sim tray and needing a sim tool which is finicky and cumbersome (who just carries a sim tool with them everywhere?), and is less seamless across devices like the cloud. On top of that, OEMs know they can make more money pushing people to their cloud services and eventually charging so why would they want you to use a universal card when they can just lock you in more to their cloud service?

I personally think they are antiquated and pretty useless since most things are subscription services now (movies, music, tv) and are just another point of hardware failure as OEMs move to less hardware-related media consumption. That's just the name of the game, and the trend is not reversing anytime soon.

i wonder which is better the 810 or the previous flagship 970

There are a lot of bad sd cards out there and factories like to keep it simple. I use OTG pendrive to save my data from the phone.

Even if the phone has 1TB of storage I want it expandable!

My phone's internal is rarely used, while I use the SD card for almost everything. I have it backed up always and when it fails it only costs about $35 to replace (128GB), more if you want bigger. And yes, over the last 5 years I have changed 3 cards.
