S Yu, 06 Sep 2019Different region, different firmware. I once thought that o... moreit's the global version. Even my fckin Samsung S4 Mini, Sony Xperia XA and LG Q6 had ads and bloatware. Those where overpriced in comparison to Xiaomi devices, and where full of undeletable rubbish.

Actually, ads on Xiaomi devices are dependent on the region.
I've heard if you change region to fx. Hong Kong=no ads(Indian users).
I live in Denmark and region Denmark= no ads.
Btw. There is plenty of options to uninstall Xiaomi system aps like Mi Video, Mi Browser or Mi music using adb codes on your computer, without rooting your device(more info on XDA developers forums). Not hard at all. Just follow the easy steps.
Besides, I never use Mi system apps, there is a lot of better options out there... Its like using GCam instead of the standard camera app.
You have to acknowledge that Xiaomi has really good built quality of their phones even if some custom tailoring is needed by the user. Installing poco or nova launcher, manually deleting some apps and finding your preferred apps to use instead the ones that irritate you.
Still, I believe that this is a much better option than paying 8-10 times more(RN7,RN8 vs. iPhone X, Xs) for a smartphone device which is going to do the same everyday tasks you need it to do.
On personal note, I would rather pay $200-300 in cash to own a device than signing an binding contract to pay $80 every month for 2 years.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2019Are you sure that you didn't install a malwareYes, sure. Because,
        1. The apps are from Mi itself, Mi Apps and Mi Video.
        2. Scans revealed no malware.
        3. Googling tells me Mi did it consciously on purpose.

The apps installed without permission, Mi Video and Mi Apps, did so about 2.5 years after I purchased the phone.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2019Be careful where you buy your phones. It's well knowm that... moreWell, my phone is original as its purchased from original source. Ads are not a problem now as I've removed most of their notifications and options.
Problem is, self installing apps which are Mi Apps, and Mi Video. They're not deletable too.

Googling tells me that Mi is doing so consciously.

I can understand why you're frustrated since you have to pay the full amount, if that's the case you're better off buying another smartphone, preferably one that doesn't have ads everywhere lol.

Yahya, 07 Sep 2019Certainly better than spending 1000$ to buy flashy device. Who said you had to buy an Apple or Samsung flagship? There are plenty of good smartphones that are affordable and don't come with intrusive ads lol. I'd never buy a Xiaomi smartphone because MIUI is hot garbage and the company's use of ads is just plain wrong.

Anonymous, 07 Sep 2019Wait, Xiaomi devices shipped with ads? Thank you Carl Pei ... moreIKR! I would've left Android a long time ago if OnePlus smartphones and OxygenOS didn't exist. Google's flagships are too expensive and the specs suck, and their mid-range models aren't any better either. They mucked up Android's interface, it's too bloated with Google's crap now like AI and machine learning. I wonder how much of an impact they have on the smartphones performance and battery life.
