Ads in apps like calendar??? OMG
I've never encountered such thing on any of my previous phones (Samsung and iPhone).

Shame on them...

Global version is pretty much free from ads. Those who import China version, blame yourselves.

It's well knowm that even there are fake Xiaomis ut there. Around 30% of them in China, plus all the bloatware those online shops install in them... For that reason i only trust official online ones or those that have a good warranty return policy. The first thing to do is to check if your product is original... I remember that Xiaomi has a tool to check it. Then if it is an original phone, check for bloatware, and if neccesary ask Xiaomi to unlock your phone. They'll send you the code to do it easily, and then flash it with a Global firmware. Problem solved ; ) No more adds.

It's not Xiaomi, a lot of times are apps and shit installed by third parties that sell you the phone. Good luck!

I am living in Malaysia. I just bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 last week. MIUI do not have any ads in my phone and it also does not download and install the apps automatically without my permission.

Even on the older Redmi 2, they have installed apps without my permission, totally over the air.

This is what is bad about Mi. Data collection and full control over the phone, even remotely. I doubt there's a solution now.

I think Redmi 2 will be my last Mi phone.

B0B, 06 Sep 2019I have not seen a single ad on my Mi 9 SE since I bought it... moreDifferent region, different firmware. I once thought that only the Mainland Chinese version had all the ads but now it seems that it's more complicated than that.
However if yours is a EU version or something it's entirely possible that there are no ads.

I have two phones with MIUI here in Europe and zero adds. Both are Global Versions. So don't generalize. Maybe some regions have them. But you can still unlock and flash a Global firmware in their phones, it only takes few minutes and it is done.

Forced ads or preconfigured spyware. Pick and choose, to get that phone a bit cheaper than your usual favourite brands! :)
Made in China used to mean flimsy plastic, today it means "You're the commodity, just don't ask who's buying".

I'm currently on my 11th Xiaomi phone(A1).I had maybe two or three ads,in total,on those 11 phones..I guess Global Rom for Europe is ad free.

Wan, 06 Sep 2019Still with ads. Just say bye xiaomi, and welcome realmeI'm sure you'll be more happy with a underclocked chipset, in true realme manner :-)

Btw, depending on your region, there may not even be ads in MIUI. My Mi Mix 3 is ad free in the MIUI.

Just a reminder, you can get several phones from Amazon right now at amazing prices by agreeing to get bombarded by ads. It's just a business practice that lets people who can tune it out a way of getting a much higher quality phone for cheaper.

Get the phone, request the unlock, wait the 15 days, then install xiaomi.eu(or any other rom) to get rid of the ads. I'm perfectly happy with my Mi9. Honestly, the ads weren't as bad as I thought they would be during the 15 day period.

Love the Community, 06 Sep 2019My reason why Xiaomi added ads because they're willing to b... moreAd-settings are regional.

So on a MIUI device if you select your region to be India, where the phone is subsidized by ads, then ads are enabled by default, but can still be disabled by those in the know. XIaomi is now just making it easier.

In my region, Norway, there are no ads in MIUI by default.

Well for k20 pro there no ads ,but I do get notifications sometimes from their apps but that can be disabled,so not so much of a problem on k20 pro, can't say about rn7pro and other models
