How big an impact can the choice of chipset have on the popularity of a new phone? A huge one, as it turns out.

People complaining about the CPU which is not even available publicly

I hope this new chipset from MT lot better than their older chipset..

Gcam and custom ROM is available for mediatek devices too.

Regarding software update.. this phone is released with Android pie (project treble) and going to get Android Q for sure so it won't be a any problem in software update

Hopefully the next Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro will come with:
    - 5G support,
    - In-display fingerprint reader,
    - A slightly bigger battery if possible (even better if Xiaomi can squeeze in a 5000 mAh battery in the Pro variant),
    - and an OLED or AMOLED FHD panel (Mi A3, anyone?)

Some may argue that this may be too similar to the (upcoming) Mi A4, so Xiaomi can maybe make the Note 9 and Note 9 Pro the MIUI versions of the Android-One-based Mi A4.

Maybe 50 Euro more, A snapdragon 730 and an amoled it would be ok.. oh wait thats the Mi 9T 😀

Anonymous, 08 Sep 2019GPU is twice better! AI is probably about 3 or 4 time bett... moreNote 7 pro came out as an entirely different look considering note 6. That was my point. Take a chill pill bro...

The mediatek chipset is a biggest nightmare for soc. Everyone knows that. Just can't believe xiaomi using this chipset on the pro version than the vanilla note 8. I sure from redmi note 8 pro will be the worst redmi note history for Mifans and it's time to buy Realme phones.. We'll see..

Everyone can choose. In my country a3 is 180€ 4/64 gb, redmi 7 3/32 GB 130€, redmi 7a 2/16gb 88€. Note 8 will be 160€ and note 8 pro about 220€. It's a great deal for every smartphone.

I heard that MediaTek chips have problems with durability and software updates, is any of that true? I mean I've watched some vids on YT and it's performance is fascinating for the price range. But software updates are important, right?. Like they'd probably take more time in this case, which I hope isn't true.

If you take into consideration how poorly MTK chipsets aged on the devices from the past and a fact that they are missing on the developer community big time, I would definitely put my $$$ on RN8- Snapdragon 665.
Im still having my old RN3pro somewhere with SD650 as a backup device. Still snappy, no lag and preforming as new.
I cant say the same for my RN4x(mtk Helio P20).

I am buying Redmi Note 8, non pro version. 665 is as good as 660 and enough for everyday use. I am not paying more $ to MTK. 64MP Gimmick Camera and 500mAH of battery

Though chip is new but they are lagging behind. Should have built in 8 or 10nm process instead of 12nm. I'm sure the guys at mediatek know that they are at a disadvantage.

galaxyS15, 08 Sep 2019Not as exciting as note 7 pro....GPU is twice better!
AI is probably about 3 or 4 time better with real NPU, not DSP/GPU oniy based AI
                                        Better ISP for cameras
12nm from TSMC and 11nm from Samsung on SD675, I'm not sure Samsung is better.
UFS Storage on 8 Pro and only eMMC on 7 Pro...

Maybe 64MP sensor from Samsung doesn't provide better low light Picture compare to Sony's 48MP...but daylight, it's very detailed

You can ask you if 8 is really better than 7...
But 8 Pro is far better than 7 Pro
