Anonymous, 10 Sep 2019Clearly many commenters here didn't even read the article a... moreeverybody has read the article well. Issue is not WHO is breaking this law, but WHY. Yes, foxconn is responsibile for this practice, but all of it is connected to the fact that apple demanded from them xxxx units of apple phones in xxxx time, and thy have to deliver them or pay the penalties to apple. So they hire more people to achive their goals set by apple. Therefore, apple is equaly to blame as foxconn.

Because most of the products on the western markets are made by china/india/indonesia/other countries which have lax labour laws, and western companies are all abusing that. Oh, and quite a few of them are still charging an arm and a leg for their products, not because of the cost of production but because of their label.

Look, i work in China. Reality is ALL workers LOVE overtime and even working 7 days a week 10 hours per day is absolutely no problem for anyone. Why? because the only thing chinese people value is MONEY. If they have free day they wont go bike in the forest or swim in the lake, they will be bored stay at home play phone. Actually i have problems keeping workers if they don't get overtime, because they all want to work for companies with long hours and higher pay.

Clearly many commenters here didn't even read the article and just started spewing nonsense LOL.

                            1. 50% of Foxconn's workforce is made up of temporary labor while the Chinese law says it can only go up to 10%.
                            2. Foxconn required workers to do overtime.
                            3. Some of the staff that worked overtime consists of student intern workers who are not allowed to take extra hours.

Sounds pretty much like it's Foxconn who implemented these bogus policies themselves, what does this have to do with Apple?

I don't like the situation but pretending American brands (like Apple) are doing anything different to Chinese brands (like Oppo) is ignorant. Only difference is brands like Apple screw the cheap labor over but then also screw the consumer with their ridiculous profit margins whereas Chinese brands like Oppo offer fairer prices to the consumer (so are only screwing the sweat shop workers).
