Walter C. Dornez, 11 Sep 2019I don't think 21:9 would happen, as it would be too differe... moreI dunno.
Frankly I think 21:9 would be the right move, since it would give the phone a new shape. That's what Apple needs now, since the iPhone X-line has been feeling stale for a while now, otherwise they risk looking inferior to the competition... something they despised when going from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 8 form-factor. Besides a 21:9 aspect ratio is much more useful than a 20:9 or 19:9 weird ratios, but probably not as compact/useful as say a 16:9 (or even 17:9) aspect ratio. Plus if the new device lacks a notch/hole, and doesn't have a moving camera, this would be a smart addition.
The only hurdle I see, is that developers now have to accomodate yet another resolution for their Apps. But this is a risk that Apple doesn't care much for when looking at their previous jumps in the iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 6, Plus, then the iPhone Xr, X, and Max. Let alone their various iPad sizes and resolutions.
Just think of all those marketing terms like "magic" and "cinema display" :D

Kangal, 11 Sep 2019I think a 120Hz screen is less likely to happen than 21:9, ... moreI don't think 21:9 would happen, as it would be too different and too skinny. They have a history of using high refresh rate displays, so I think 120 hz is possible next year.

JMTM, 11 Sep 2019You call yourself a technology lover yet giving Apple no cr... moreI was talking merely of design if you read my post correctly instead of thinking ahead of things I haven't said.
Yeah iPhone have the most powerful chip but with a terrible design (especially this year).
Please stop taking words for starting a stupid dispute of who have the better phone because I don't care.

JMTM, 11 Sep 2019You call yourself a technology lover yet giving Apple no cr... moreS10e is less that £700 outright if you look in the right place. You're right, though, apple are years ahead processing wise... If you look at the benchmarks. In fact, give the 90HZ screen on the OnePlus 7 Pro a shot for a few days and tell me if your iPhone really feels that much more fluid in day-to-day use.
If you're going to criticise somebody else for their lack of knowledge regarding technology, maybe check your own argument first. I'll agree google phones are a joke though (like apple's).

Notch is a $300 tax on the buyer and a data mine for Apple. It is ugly and insulting. Under display fingerprint would be the only way I would buy another iPhone.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2019I'm sure that Jony left for this reason, I mean no designer... moreYou call yourself a technology lover yet giving Apple no credit for putting the most powerful CPU and GPU on their iPhone 11 at $700? Yeah right. You can say it's ugly and screen is not as high res as other phones but their chip is at least 3 Gen's ahead of android. Tell me a phone from Google or Samsung that's flagship less than $700.

Pixel is ugly as well , at least no notch this year.
Huawei have done a great job recently with their designs same as Xiaomi, while OnePlus and Samsung are on the middle (except S10+ backcamera tha is gorgeous)
Still we can argue that beauty is subjective but simmetry is not.
Price wise for iPhone I don't even care I stopped buying Apple product 3 yrs ago
This year they have made a small step back with the entry level on price but still 720p display and 4k 60ps recording .. this is a joke
Just to clarify I'm not an hater I love technology and design
I'm still stucked with my S8+ and probably I will for long ,

i agree the camera island on the back is hideous. just a thought but it could be the reason ive left apple? i mean squarish camera island has been done before, but at least with huawei there was symmetry. i think the one in the upcoming pixels also are in square island and not symmetrical but at least they have blackened the entire island so it will not be a distraction. prior to this, design has been synonymous with apple, so this hideous camera island is a big letdown. i mean, they charge premium so consumers have the right to expect premium design.
the notch is ok even if it seem wider; this is the only security alternative to the lack of fingerprint scanner. those complaining about no expandable storage, iphones (and ipads for that matter) never had one and apple have had a somewhat credible argument about it for the longest time. ram amount is, well, ok as ios has always been know to be good at ram management. the lack of under the display fps is ok as the face id is secure and works fast enough. screen resolutions could have been better, given the price. closed ecosystem including bt and the lack of nfc is understandable. pricing is, well, expected with apple, which went away with a monitor stand for US$1K a pop. the addition of dolby atmos certification to the loudspeakers are only proper. just the same, as it has always been the complaint for years now- pricing is still way up there, almost 4 times the cost to build each unit.
