As far as we know, Google's square is black, whereas Apple's is color matched to the color of the phone, which makes it a lot less jarring in my opinion.

Like, what?! As far as we know, both Apple and Google have had this designed planned for a while, and neither of them copied.

In any case both are UGLY and made in China or Taiwan where information is leaked everywhere and sure with common providers for some parts and accerories. The back maybe a bit better in the Google phone but the front is even worse than the notch with that huge thick and no simetric or proportional forehead.

Anonymous321, 18 Sep 2019Why must Google copy iPhone's ugly design.. They might have copied it. But as per pics and leaks till today we can say, they had done a far better job than apple. Apple had two camera bump i.e. first the whole unit where camera and sensor installed and then separate camera bumps for three camera.

Also look at the border how crisp they look.
Final we can comment on October 15th when the reveal it.

Not sure why people are complaining about the small battery and non plus 855. There is clearly a plan here by Google to provide a light phone while maintaining a an updated spec at minimum. There is market for people who wants that while having a great camera that they're known for.

To solve those limitation obviously why they have digital wellbeing to limit phone usage(as we all should) and battery optimization. I like that approach, because they think like a software company first solving the internal rather than just chucking everything into a smartphone and just churning out phones after phones that weighs like bricks and forgotten from being updated for ages.

If huge battery and powerful spec is you priority then lucky for us we have heaps of choices when it comes to smartphone these days :)

It is actually ridiculous that announcing a new phone have become such big events, especially since they no longer have anything really "new" to announce, only a slightly faster cpu... that will open apps a nano-second faster and a slightly better camera with unnoticeable improved image quality!
Today a phone should not cost more than a hundred Euro, but I guess technology improvements no longer makes technology cheaper, even though they are made in China!
Our addiction to our phones is very unhealthy! Most of us feel... a lot better when we are "forced" to turn our phones, or atleast our Internet connection, off!

I love my Pixel 3 on Pie (September 2018). While I want to support the Pixel line, I just don't see the Pixel 4 ever succeeding. It will flop like my Pixel 3 did. I don't see the Pixel line around for very long. Maybe after the Pixel 7, it will die like the Nexus did. Neither Nexus or Pixel were ever popular anyway.

Google seems to be two years behind Apple and it isn't like Apple has innovated the last decade or so. Apple has copied more from Android OEMs than innovated. So I don't see Google adding wide-angle until Pixel 6! It took 3.5 years for Apple to finally add wide-angle to their phones. Copying LG from 2016.
