No warranty on your phone covers your water damage so even IP69k when your phone gets water damaged you have to pay very expensive repair which would cost equal to a same brand new device.

And as long as your waranty wont cover water damage whether you have or dont you have IPXX resistance is not important you will pay much more for a phone if you have IPXX resistance but as i said above whether you have or dont have IPXX resistance doesnt matter becauuse it wont covers water damage your phone can get.
And paying more for a device which have useless gimmick on it have no clue.

Little point paying premium for a technology that 99% of the consumer do not get to enjoy.

Furthermore there is no safe way to check if your waterproofing is still working after usage.

How many cheap phones are there that have ip rating? not much, and they're not good ones either. The ip rating is more like a premium-phone's exclusive. And like I said, it doesn't have the rating doesn't mean it would just malfunction upon impact with water, you should watch jerryrigeverything to see the guy tearing down devices, some without ip rating still have designs to resist water, not on the same level as ip68, but it's there.

If that's really what matters to you, you should look for premium price phones. And fyi, it doesn't have ip rating doesn't mean it couldn't resist water.
