Even X owners are upgrading this year thanks to those new amazing cameras, bigger batteries and upgraded face ID.
And most people buy new smartphone when they need one, they don’t care what comes year after or have any idea about that.

Someone who purchased 2017 galaxy Note 8 started with 2016 android and got updated to 2018 android, which is still usable for a couple more years. So yes, you can stretch an android beyond 2 years.

iPhone users are upgrading to a new iPhone every 3-4 years.
iPhones do not age! An iphone 7 plus is still a very good performer with good camera and good battery life and it runs the latest iOS version and will do for at least 2 more years.
So people who upgraded to iPhone X (iPhone 6-6s users) will not upgrade any time soon and people with iPhones 7-X will wait until next year as everyone knows the next iPhone will be a much bigger upgrade.
Apple knew that this year was never going to be good in terms of sales! People are waiting for the 5G model with changes to the notch. This year's phone is what iPhone 7 plus was to iPhone 6. Similar phone but better in every way until the a radical redesign is due next year.

iPhones still sell like hotcakes because millions of people are stuck inside Apple's ecosystem or are just used to iOS and iPhones and iPads are the only devices that offer that OS.
Imagine if Google decided to make Android closed? And Google doesn't offer any of their apps and services to iOS users? Pixels would be the biggest seller every year. Billions of people can't live without Google services.
Instead, Samsung makes billions off Google's software and vice-versa with Google making money off Samsung's hardware and marketing. If only Google decided to make Android and their services not free to use? Who would be laughing now and making most of the money?

No they didn't, just for fun i checked earlier years polls from earlier iPhone launches and all look bad just, every single apple poll in this site have low reception for the reason which been said many times before.

Wrong again, Every year reception in here is bad and yet the phones keep selling tens of millions.
These haters haven't even seen iPad Pro alive, just saying. Reviewers are praising the new iPhones and sales are high. That's a true reception.

ok you are right there. There is more android users here than apple and a lot of apple haters, sure. But this is a place where you can see the true reception, not your Apple propaganda fan pages. And its clear that even on a web like this previous generations had much more success. So the long story short is apple products are becoming boring and each year more people realize that.

I had every iPhone from the 3GS to the 7. Every single one.
I then bought Samsung galaxy s8 and now a s9plus. I couldn't go back and I was an apple groupie.
Before even though they cost a bit more the value was there. They were better. Now I feel the Samsung is genuinely better phone so the higher prices simply not worth it anymore.
