Xiaomi publishes first camera samples from Mi Mix Alpha's 108MP camera

Sam, 25 Sep 2019I will like to ask a question. Why make 48, 43, 64, 66, 108 mp s... moreMaking a camera with a large sensor size and big pixel from the start would ended up having a big bump at the back to accomodate such big sensor. Remember Nokia 808 PureView and Nokia Lumia 1020?

With the introduction of pixel binning started in 2018 by Huawei with the P20 Pro, you can use those big MP cameras to simulate a photo at a smaller image with bigger pixel via software algorithms. That means, there is no necessity to create a camera with big sensor size from the start, which inadvertently eliminates the camera bump.

I will like to ask a question. Why make 48, 43, 64, 66, 108 mp sensors with 0.8 micron. Then later have to combine 4 pixels to get 1.6 micron pixels. Why not just make for example 12 mp sensor with maybe 1.6 or 2.0 micron or even 27mp with 1.6 micron at once instead of making 108mp with tiny pixels?
Answers please. Cause I was reasoning like, Samsung uses 12mp sensors with 1.4 micron, why not just make another 12mp with 1.6 micron at once instead of 48mp?

Tablet, 25 Sep 2019Don't be ignorant. Pretty much all phones today are tablets.You're wrong. Phone sizes haven't truly increased in the last 5 years. Only bezels have gotten smaller & shape has changed from wider to taller. Start paying attention to things instead of spreading misconceptions everywhere.

LOL ,the phone maker nowaday trying to compete with more larger pixel instead of invent better camera which can take more natural colour ,more realistic photo as same as digital camera . That's why the newest 48mp camera is totally a crap ,the photo colour not natural,under or over expose etc.it just a selling tactics to attract consumer but not a sincere improvement or evolution of technology.

In mobile phones more pixel not get good clarity. too much brightness, artificial colour,not get natural colour. this is a business trick. thats all.

Nothing beats sheer sensor size and megapixels.. Quad bayer 48MP and 64MP only have details quivalent to 12MP and 16MP.. Only Nokia 808 produces true 38MP details.. This Tetracell 108MP if equivalent to Quad bayer then it will only produce 27MP worth of details.. HMD please bring back Nokia 808's sensor with modern improvements

There are sensors that are exclusive, while other are available to whoever wants to buy.

Xiaomi came to Samsung Semicon and told them they wanted a sensor with these specs. Any other could have done it. It is what Huawei has with Sony Semicon.

That sensor was made by Toshiba, this tech was created by Sony few years later.
It was downsample to 5MP like Xperia Z series did from 20.7 to 8MP.

808 with its 1,4m regular Bayer pixels does better. Crop zoom has a lot of detail and still looks like photo, not like oil painting by some impressionist. Sure it's downscaled, so I will wait for full review (if it ever comes) for final judgement.

I still think Nubia's approach of dual screen is best way to avoid the front cam and get all screen main display - no notches, no holes, no mechanical moving cameras, no struggling for under display camera.

Divisions are independent, they can sell whatever they want.

XZ2 Premium has 4K HDR 144Hz , made by LG. While G7 had QHD 60Hz.
OP7 Pro with QHD 90Hz, while Note 10+ has 60Hz.

This includes Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, Leica, Hasselblad and Pentax.
Even many Canon (those with 1/2.3" or 1")
Those Canon that use in-house sensor have much worse performance.

People,already noticed that S and Note with Exmor do better than units with Isocell.
