Dark Mode is hitting Gmail on Android 10 and iOS 11+ devices

25 September 2019
It will respect the system settings in Android 10 and iOS 13, otherwise, you have to turn it on yourself.

I've always to preferred a black background with white text.
The first thing I'd do on my 48k Ram ZX Spectrum back in the 1980's was:
        10 Page=0: Ink=7: Cls
        Lol.

iphones have very limited ranges and size but android phones are just fked up mixed in the range so thats why ios get the update first

            SMH @ Google.

I'm on Pie and perfectly happy. Why is it mandatory for us to be on Android 10? Many other apps have dark mode already for older versions of Android including YouTube and Google Messages.

I have no intention ever updating to Android 10. It broke my Call Blacklist Pro app and I couldn't share to Viber using QuickPic. I also couldn't install apps I backed up using ES File Explorer.

Android 10 is a joke to me. I'll stick to Pie for as long as I use my Pixel 3 and it remains alive. And if my Pixel 3 gets lost, stolen, or becomes completely broken, I will get the same model again and downgrade it to Pie.

Well how about us people who are stuck with Android 9?
U can just release a downloadable dark theme for all of us?
Like how it used to work back in the days.
If one plus can so can Google. Many aps already have dark mode themes that you can costumize, why do you need to add that on a completely new version as a new feature?
I don't understand why Google are working like they do?

I don't get it. Why roll it out to iOS 11+ and not to Pie, Nougat and other versions of Android users. I don't see other app manufacturers go Android first. Why not try to keep your base happy before spreading new stuff to conpetition? Why would your customers not just go iOS since that is favoured?

It feels like we're reaching pinnacle of the smartphone software development as there's basically nothing to improve, since basically changing background color from white to dark grey in an app is apparently news-worthy these days. I just watched the ad for EMUI and the 'dark mode' is advertised as virtually the only new feature (aside from changing the design of buttons)
